The KTM RC 250 has been spied testing near Pune. The Austrian brand has already  launched the new generation Duke 200, 250 and 390 in India. The RC 200 and RC 390 also have been updated. KTM manufactures the RC 125 and RC 250, however, they are only for export markets. Infact, the 125cc and 250cc portfolio is only for export. The only exception is the Duke 250 that has been launched in India.

KTM has been manufacturing all its bikes up to 390cc in India and exporting it to other markets. This includes the 125cc, 200cc, 250cc and even the 390cc. This year, KTM launched the Duke 250 in India. Recently, the new 2017 KTM RC 250 has been spotted on test in and around Pune.

The RC 250 will be another fully-faired bike in between the RC 200 and the RC 390. KTM will be looking at filling up this void, as the new Yamaha Fazer 25 has been introduced. 

The 250cc fully-faired motorcycle segment at the moment only has Yamaha Fazer 25 as the Honda CBR 250 has been discontinued. Honda is also looking at making an entry into this with a new bike. Before any other player enters this segment will want to take advantage. It is already manufacturing this bike locally and all it needs to do is launch it. The 250cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine will be churning about 29.6bhp of power  at 9,000rpm and 24Nm of torque at 7,500rpm. This engine will come mated to a six-speed transmission. The engine will have the same power like the Duke 250, however this engine will have more linear power. This will make it more ridable in city and even comfortable for daily riding. Unlike the RC 390 it doesn’t come with Drive-By-Wire. This bike will get the same set-up for the engine and throttle just like the Duke 250.

2017 KTM RC 250 Mileage

There will be not much of a difference in the KTM RC 250 mileage and the Duke 250. The RC 250 will return close to about 40km/l in the city and about 45km/l on the highway.

2017 KTM RC 250 Design

In terms of styling, it gets the same design elements like the RC 200. There is a split headlamp with a pointed nose. The handle bars are the same like other RCs. In terms of paint scheme there are minor differences and it gets the RC 250 badging. This comes with a head-down riding style. 

Designed for a racetrack, the seating and handlebar position on the RC 250 are racer-like. A good amount of rider’s weight is put on the clip-on bars. The rear also doesn’t look any different either.

The front gets a 300mm disc and the rear has 230mm petal disc. The 9th generation Bosch ABS will be used on this bike. In terms of suspension, this bike will have WP upside down 43mm travel at the front. The rear will get the mono-shock. The bike weighs about 147 kilograms, about 9 kilograms more than the Duke 250. The same Steel trellis Frame continues on the RC 250 as well, which is the light weight one. There shall be no difference in the ground clearance, it will continue at 178mm.

If launched, KTM will have to price it in between the RC 200 and RC 390. Hence, it will have a price tag close to 2.00 lakhs (ex-showroom,, New Delhi). It will be more expensive than the Fazer but it shall pack in more power for sure. KTM will be faster than the Fazer 250. 

2017 KTM RC 250 Launch Date

There no plans as of now to launch this bike in India. However, just as the Duke 250 was launched out of the blue, there may be chances that the RC 250 also makes it here. If this happens, it will only be towards the latter part of next year.
