Mahindra KUV100 Automatic (AMT) launch in September

Sometime back, Mahindra had launched the updated version of its sub compact SUV KUV100. The Mahindra KUV100 NXT was a big improvement over its earlier model.The vehicle got several cosmetic upgrades and tweaks.  However, powertrains remained the same.Mahindra is now gearing up to launch an AMT (automatic) variant of the KUV100 shortly. Mahindra officials had confirmed during the launch of the KUV100 NXT that the AMT is under development. They also confirmed that the AMT will be available on both petrol and diesel engines. Mahindra is working towards offering automatics in most of their products. While smaller vehicles will feature AMTs, the bigger ones will get traditional automatic transmissions. The Mahindra KUV100 Automatic (AMT) has been testing since some time and is getting ready for a launch soon. It will use the same AMT sourced from Magneti Marelli, but is calibrated in a better way.

The AMT variants will be launched by September 2018. The company is currently conducting reliability tests on them. AMT will add some more variety to the KUV100 portfolio. A launch just ahead of the festive season will help it garner some more volumes in terms of sales.

Mahindra KUV100 Automatic (AMT) Price

The AMT variants of the KUV100 will be priced around ₹ 60,000 higher than the manual version. They will come in both petrol and diesel engine options. The segment of the KUV100 is a petrol centric one, hence Mahindra may get the AMT in petrol too.

The specifications of the KUV100 NXT AMT will see no change. It is the same as the earlier model. The three cylinder petrol and diesel engines will get the AMT option. The micro-hybrid technology comes in this now, which is a start stop function. Mahindra is trying to offer better economy from these engines. The engines are more refined and the NVH levels are also improved now. The engines get new mounts that reduce vibrations. AMT will further helping ease of driving especially in city driving conditions.

The dimensions of the KUV100 automatic will be identical. There will not be any change in this. The KUV100 AMT also will come six seats as standard. It will make for a convenient city car.

Mahindra KUV100 Automatic (AMT) Mileage

The engines of the KUV100 are the same. The difference in fuel efficiency od the AMT will be minimal. The ARAI certified mileage of the KUV100 is 18.15 km/l and 25.32 km/l for the petrol and diesel versions, respectively. In real driving conditions,the AMT variants will  return an overall mileage of 13km/l for petrol and 17km/l for diesel. This will be slightly lower than the manual version, but will offer more convenience in driving.

Mahindra KUV100 Automatic (AMT) Interior

The interior of the Mahindra KUV100 AMT will be the same. It has a new interior colour theme, which is black. The dashboard and instrument cluster will be the same but the gear lever will vary. The AMT will have a defiant lever and have only D, N and R modes.  There will also be a manual option. There vehicle will have no clutch. The three seating option at the front is now standard.
