Maruti Celerio 2017 is here, gets some changes

The new Maruti Celerio 2017 has been launched. It does get some changes and it is more a refresh. Maruti had launched the Celerio back in 2014, which was just before the Ciaz had hit the streets. The Celerio was based on the concept of getting a tall boy design, spacious cabin and more appealing exterior than what the Wagon R offered. This can be termed as a replacement to the Estilo, as it filled in that same price point. 

Recently the Celerio competition grew, with Tata Tiago outrunning it in sales. Tata Motors has changed a lot in this segment. The Celerio is available in petrol, CNG and was even launched in diesel, but discontinued. The refreshed Celerio 2017 seems to have got some updates. We share all the details on the new Celerio 2017. New Maruti Celerio 2017 Price in India

To begin with the pricing, there isn’t any real change in the pricing. The Celerio 2017 hasn’t undergone a major change and so its pricing hasn’t been affected really. New Maruti Celerio 2017 has got only cosmetic upgrades. Base model price for New Delhi starts at Rs 4.15 lakhs and goes up to Rs 5.34 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

The new 2017 Maruti Celerio gets cosmetic changes on the outside. There is an all new front grille that has been blacked out instead of the chrome stripes. The chrome lip continues. The new front bumper looks sporty. It has sharp looks contours on it. The fog lamp is still round. The back door has garnish and rear bumper has been designed to give a fresh look.

These are the only major changes on the Celerio 2017, there are no changes in its overall profile or dimensions. A new red colour has also been introduced on the new Maruti Celerio 2017. There might have been a change in its structural rigidity as the Celerio has cleared the offset and side impact crash test, which will be become norms in 2019.

On the inside, the changes are minimal too. There is a black and beige dashboard. There are some aluminium-sort of inserts too in the dashboard. The centre console consists of AC vents, audio system with some buttons and knobs to control and underneath are the three knobs for the air-con. There has been a change in the seat fabric.

On the inside, the biggest talking points on the Celerio is the space it offers. This is the front seats that are good in space, be it head or knee room. The rear seat space is also very good on the Celerio and one of the best in its segment. The boot size is decent on the Celerio.

New Maruti Celerio 2017 Specifications

The new Maruti Celerio 2017 will come with a 1.0-litre K-Series petrol engine that churns about 62bhp of power and 90Nm of maximum torque. This engine has a 5-speed manual and AMT options. The Celerio 2017 will have the same engines and transmissions. There shall be CNG available too, but not with manual transmission. The Celerio has a peppy small engine that has sufficient power for the city. There is more than enough performance in this engine and easy to drive in the city and even on the highway. This is more of a city car and a comfortable cruiser on the highway.

This is the same engine that also comes on the Wagon R and the Alto K10 as well. Maruti begun offering AMT with the Celerio itself. The pick of this engine is very good and even the refinement is good.

New Maruti Celerio 2017 Mileage

In terms of fuel-efficiency, the Celerio petrol manual returns about 14-15km/l in the city and about 18km/l on the highway. The petrol AMT about 12km/l and 17km/l in the city and highway respectively. This is good enough for a car of this size and the performance it gives.
