The 2018 Maruti Baleno facelift will be coming to India. This will be an all new hatchback that will be coming. The Maruti Baleno was launched in 2015, becoming the company’s first premium hatchback. Made available through the Nexa Experience. The next year it shall be getting an update. This will mean cosmetic changes and some more additional features on offer. Maruti Baleno has already been a good value for money. It competes head on with the Hyundai Elite i20, which will also get a facelift next year.

There will be changes in the front end, a new fascia will be on offer. The headlamps will be tweaked. There shall be some more features on offer too. The dashboard layout will be the same. As this is a facelift, no change in the dimensions and even the space. The engines will be the same too, with a 1.2-litre petrol and the 1.3-litre DDiS. Both shall be offered with a five-speed manual and the petrol will even have an option of CVT.

Maruti will not want the sales of this premium hatchback to dip at any point. The company is working towards enhancing its current product portfolio and offering more for the buck. There will not be a major change in the pricing of the new Baleno. We reckon the pricing shall stay almost at the same price. There will be the RS 1.0 that will continue on sale. The Baleno 2018 will be offered on sale with more features without a major change in its pricing. This will make it an even better option. A facelift in three years time will help Maruti boost the numbers further. Already the new Baleno 2018 is due to be launched next year. The European market will be the first to get the updated version and then the Indian car market will be offered one.

2018 Maruti Baleno facelift Launch Date

The facelift version of the Maruti Baleno will be unveiled by mid 2018, and this will be for the European market. India will commence export of this hatchback to Europe and then it will introduce it in India. We reckon end of 2018 or maybe early 2019 can be a more expectable figure. The European market will get the facelift first, the India launch will be delayed by a few months. Maruti will be working on enhancing its reach in the Indian car market. Baleno has been a major hit for the Maruti brand and it will want to continue with its upward sales. The i20 will get a facelift in February 2018 and then Maruti will not want to loose any time in getting the Baleno an update.

Moving on to the diesel engine, a 1.3-litre diesel engine churns about 75bhp of power and 190Nm of maximum torque. This engine also come with a five-speed manual transmission. The petrol is more refined and linear power. Both engines have good power, just that the petrol feels more peppy. Our pick s the petrol engine, especially for those who drive less than 50kms per day, while diesel is for those who drive in excess of 50 kms every day.

There will not be a major change in the design of the new Baleno 2018. The premium hatchback will get some subtle changes. There will be a new front grille, updated headlamps, new front and rear bumper and fog lamps. The side profile will not change, maybe it gets contrast roof. There are no changes in its dimensions.

Maruti Baleno RS logo

The Baleno 2018 appears to be the longest of the lot. This makes it feel more premium. 15-inch wheels will continue and LEDs on the tail lamp. The integrated rear spoiler will be there too. Maruti Baleno 2018 will continue to be a strong product for the company. The minor changes on the Baleno 2018 will be a good refresh. The current design also doesn’t seem old but it will be helpful with the new i20 facelift.

2018 Maruti Baleno facelift Interior

On the inside, the Baleno facelift will see no changes in design. The dashboard layout shall remain the same. To begin with, it will have all black interiors. The dashboard will feature a 7-inch touchscreen system. There will be no difference in the quality of materials. In terms of space, it will be the same. So, the front row of seats will offer good space and comfort. There will even be more than sufficient head room for the front passengers and enough side and thigh support too.

The rear seats offer good amount of space. Just that, the do not have that much comfort. The rear seats could have had more recline. The ride for the rear passengers is a bit too choppy. No rear AC vents are either available also. The boot space is just perfect. The new additional features we will like to see in the Baleno are sun roof and maybe AC rear vents, though we aren’t certain of these features being offered.
