Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 FI is coming. With TVS Apache 200 RTR 4V FI being the recent talk in 200cc, Bajaj wants to counter them. TVS pipped Bajaj to become the third largest two-wheeler manufacturer in India. Bajaj has lost a lot of ground, especially if we consider few years ago it was second in the ranking and now it is 4th. Honda and TVS have moved ahead. One of the strong points of TVS has been the scooters and its performance bikes. The Apache 200 has got a much better response and it is affecting Bajaj’s NS 200 sales. As there is no fuel-injection version yet, a new FI variant is coming in.
The Pulsar NS 200 was launched in 2012, and since then there are been no change in the engine department. The same engine was even given to the Pulsar AS 200 and now Bajaj wants to upgrade it to fuel-injection. This will basically mean the RS 200 engine will be used. Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 FI shall see a minor hike in its pricing. A while ago, Bajaj even launched the ABS version of the Pulsar NS 200.
Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 FI Launch Date

As the festive season is already here, we are expecting this new bike to come in either immediately now or we can expect them to launch next year sometime. There won’t be any more launches from Bajaj in November and December.
Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 Fi Design
Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 since its launch in 2012 hasn’t seen a major change in its aesthetics. Buyers like it, they why change? The recent update that the Pulsar NS 200 got was of additional stickering and new colour scheme. The dual tone colour makes it look stylish and impressive. The fuel tank is chiselled and it gets 200 badging on it. The fuel-injection version should even get the FI badging.
Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 FI will also be offered with the same dual tone paint scheme. The tail lamps shall be LEDs, racebike-like tail cutter will be offered too. This will be up against the TVS Apache 200 RTR 4V FI ABS.

Bajaj Pulsar NS200 FI Price in India
|Bajaj Pulsar 200 NS||Price (ex-showroom, Delhi)|
|ABS||₹ 1.08 lakhs|
|FI||₹ 1.18 lakhs (expected)|
The recently launched Pulsar NS 200 ABS is priced close to ₹ 1.08 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 FI price will be about ₹ 1.18 lakhs. We do expect a maximum jump of ₹ 10,000. The improvement in performance will a good enough requirement for an enthusiast. Bajaj is targeting the niche buyers who need better performance than anything and it will be competing head-on with the Apache 200 ABS FI.
Bajaj Pulsar NS200 FI Specifications
|Max. Power||23bhp @ 9500rpm|
|Peak Torque||18.3 Nm @ 8000rpm|
|Front Suspension||Telescopic Forks|
The same 199.5cc engine will be used on this bike. There will be a minor change in the number of power and torque, but there will be a major improvement in the manner the bike rides, especially in city. The need to overtake will be better understood by the FI variant. On the highway, there will not be a major difference understood unless you are a nincompoop in motorcycle riding. In case of bike not starting, no kick-start option either as this is fuel-injection. Bajaj has improved a lot on its FI technology. The first bike, Pulsar 220 FI was a major failure with a lot of customer complaints on it. Bajaj has come ahead of that starting with the Pulsar RS 200 and then the Dominar 400 also.
The Pulsar NS 200 has 17-inch alloy wheels, with the front having 100-section and rear 130-section. The Pulsar NS 200 FI shall have conventional forks upfront and gas-charged Nitrox monoshock at the rear. The front disc is 280mm and the rear is 230mm. The ABS unit is the same single channel one offer even on the Pulsar RS 200.
Bajaj Pulsar NS200 FI Mileage
The fuel injection will improve the drivability and mileage to some extent. We expect a gain of 5-10% at the most on the FI variant. Do not expect anything more than that. So for city, the mileage should be somewhere like 45km/l and on the highway close to 50km/l. The mix of both conditions should be close to 48km/l, while the company claimed will be 55km/l.

Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 FI Top Speed
|True Top Speed||138 km/hr|
The Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 FI will not see an improvement in its top speed. Even though the speedometer shows the dial with about 160km/hr, the Pulsar will top out at 138km/hr at the most. This is similar to the carbureted version of the Pulsar. Not a major change.
Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 FI 0-100 km/hr
|Bajaj Pulsar NS 200 FI||Top Speed|
|0-100 km/hr||9.4 seconds|
The Pulsar NS 200 carb takes about 9.65 seconds to touch 100 on the speedo. The Pulsar NS 200 FI will take close to 9.4 seconds to achieve that fate. There isn’t a major change in the outright performance.
Will be willing to pay the excess price for the Pulsar NS 200 FI or will you stick to just the ABS version. There are other advantages of the fuel-injection version over the carb version. Cold start and better engine temperature management are some of them. So, what will you? Share your comments with us. Stay tuned to MotorOctane for more on new car and bikes news and reviews.
