Continental GT 750 will be launched as Royal Enfield Interceptor 750. This will be an all new bike that Royal Enfield will be unveiling at the 2017 EICMA show on 7th of November. Rudratej Singh (also known as Rudy) had recently tweeted about him having a good time Siddartha Lal, the CEO of Royal Enfield at the company’s UK technology centre in Bruntinghope. Royal Enfield has been working on introducing a new 750cc bike. This will be made for the European and American market. It will make its debut in Europe it seems.

The 750cc bike will come with fuel-injection system and will Euro VI compliant. A parallel-twin, oil-cooled engine with six-speed transmission. The tweeted image has three bikes in it. This could include the Triumph Bonneville, classic version of the Bonneville and the third bike is likely to be the Interceptor 750. This seems to be more of a benchmarking test that the top management was a part of. Royal Enfield had confirmed it will be getting the new bike with a bigger engine for better cruising ability on the highways in developed markets. This will try to undercut the Triumphs and the Harley-Davidsons of the world making it more affordable.

At the moment, the RE Interceptor 750 is in its final stage of testing. This new bike has been designed for global markets. It will be quicker than any of the REs that is currently sold.  Mr Lal had stated last year that the new bike will be able to compete with other international mid-weight motorcycles. This new bike might just go on sale first in Europe and America and then could come to India after that.

The Royal Enfield Interceptor 750 shall have twin-parallel cylinder with 270-degree crank. This is the same engine This improves the refinement and the fuel-injection means its future ready. It will have a long stroke to carry forward to tradition and there will be the thump with more enhancement. This motorcycle will get ABS and there shall be 17-inch tyres too.

The key highlights of this motorcycle will be the dual exhaust, ABS, analog instrument cluster, high-mounted rear turn indicators and round headlamp with daytime running LED. The new twin cradle chassis will be used. This has been inspired from the existing Conti GT platform. It is bigger, wider and stronger. It has been designed to take the higher torque and vibrations from this engine. The chassis and the suspension has been tuned by Harris Performance.

Royal Enfield Interceptor 750 Design

This is the first global product from RE, but it has been derived from the Continental GT in design. There isn’t a major change in its styling and it seems a beefed up version of the Conti GT. The Himalayan was the last product that was designed in India and post that the work moved to RE’s satellite centre in the UK. The production will be in Chennai plant itself. Despite the twin-cradle frame, the design is almost the same. This is a new frame as the current one will not be able to take the load and have agile handling too.

The long wheelbase will improve the stability and handling too. The retro styled headlamps, tail lamps and mirrors will continue. The twin exhaust, cafe racer seating and 17-inch wheels with spokes will continue on the Interceptor 750.

The Royal Enfiel Interceptor 750 will be competing with the Harley Davidson Street 750. The other competing bikes will be the Triumph Bonneville.

The new middleweight RE Interceptor 750 will take on the likes of Harley-Davidson Street 750 in the segment. Estimated to be priced aggressively, the Interceptor 750 is expected to be a more lucrative offering out of the two.
