Tata Nexon has stormed the market and is the talk of the town for many. There are several reasons to consider this compact SUV and we tell you the five main reasons why you should consider this new SUV.

Tata Motors has been pushing the launch of this new SUV and we have been waiting for it. Since its unveil at 2016 Auto Expo. Tata has launched it at Rs 5.85 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi). That is for the base model.

Before we get into any details, we will even share our in-depth review of the Tata Nexon 2017. We have even done a video on the Tata Nexon.  We tell you five reasons why should you buy the Tata Nexon. We have done a detailed comparison between the Tata Nexon, Honda WR-V, Maruti Vitara Brezza, Ford Ecosport and the Hyundai Creta 1.4. See our detailed comparison on the Tata Nexon story and the video too.

Price

At this price point, the Nexon is the best option to pick. This is an introductory pricing, but still it is about Rs 80,000 to Rs 1 lakh cheaper than the Maruti Vitara Brezza.

The Honda WR-V and Brezza are very closely priced too. The Ecosport is a lot more expensive than the three. Hence, the Nexon is the best bet as of now in this segment.

Engines

There is no strong petrol engine on offer that is powerful yet fuel-efficient. The Nexon fills that gap. It is more powerful than the Honda WR-V, at the same time it has good efficiency too. The Ecosport Ecoboost is an expensive engine with good performance but not so good mileage. The 1.5-litre petrol on the Ecosport isn’t that punchy and lacks good mileage too. This is one of the most sorted out petrol engines, and the price it has come at, makes us change our verdict too. There is also six-speed manual transmission on offer in this variant, which makes it the only petrol manual to offer that.

The diesel engine on offer is the most powerful option. This new engine gets 108bhp of power and 260Nm of maximum torque. This makes it more powerful than the Brezza, Creta 1.4, Honda WR-V and the Ford Ecosport. What’s more, it even gets six-speed manual transmisison.

Space

There have been reports that the Nexon is a strictly four-seater. These are incorrect. The Nexon is a proper five-seater and it is the widest of the lot. The Nexon offers good enough space for the rear passengers. There is more than sufficient shoulder room, and when we even compared it to the WR-V, Brezza and the Creta, it was the most spacious. Ecosport was the one that is strictly a four-seater SUV.

Design

The Nexon that was showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo? The same is continued even now. There is no change in it. There are many who have liked the design. Whats-more is the way it has been made. It is unique and is a fresh design for the market. The ceramic white looks good on the Nexon on some of the colours. Like the red and blue colour car.

Ride and Handling

There is something or the other that can be pointed on the ride and handling aspects of these SUVs. For instance, Ecosport is too stiff for normal use. The Brezza is a tad soft making it a bit volley on bad roads, while the WR-V and Creta are somewhat similar too. This is where the Nexon is an ideal pick. The ride is the most subtle of the lot and even the handling is good enough.

There are some negatives too of the Nexon:

  1. Reverse camera: The reverse camera quality isn’t that good. At night not much can be seen on it.
  2. Umbrella holder: This is too small to hold an umbrella in it. And most of the small umbrellas also do not fit inside.
  3. Thick rear door pillar: The rear pillar (refered to as C-pillar) is too thick, which can affect parking to some extent. This is too thick and those without reverse camera, might find it difficult to park initially.

  • Will Nexon fetch a good resale value? As we have seen in the past it is difficult to sell.

  • There is no AMT yet, we can say after we drive it. We predict it to be about 10% less than petrol manual

  • Mileage ? AMT petrol?

  • Touchscreen is fine, but the reverse camera could have been better. Interiors are better than most. See our detailed comparison. https://motoroctane.com/reviews/95126-tata-nexon-vs-ford-ecosport-vs-maruti-vitara-brezza-vs-honda-wrv-vs-hyundai-creta

  • That way you will like Figo in Ecosport and Swift in Brezza.

  • From inside of nexon u feel like u r sitting in Tiago or tigor

  • Touchscreen of nexon is not good and it’s interior is quite as same as nexon ur thoughts
