Honda has been highly creative with the Indian bike market as it has been trying to enhance its reach and growing its numbers. The company is already the second largest two-wheeler maker in the country, behind Hero MotoCorp, which still dominates it. Honda had introduced the Navi and then the Cliq, which seem to be adding more variety to the current bike market. At the same time, the Honda 150SS Racer is an exciting option to procure. This new bike concept was showcased at the 2017 Bangkok Motor Show. This is an all new bike and Honda has built a highly affordable street bike for usage.

This has been termed as neo-sports cafe racer. A new term used for a bike that just has 150cc of engine displacement. This new bike has been a mastermind of Honda’s Thailand R&D centre. The company has invested about Rs 1.6 crore in this project. As Thailand is a highly important for Honda, and there is a duty on bikes in excess of 250cc, Honda has been developing smaller displacement higher performance bikes there. These bikes have been making their way into India as well, like the Kawasaki Ninja 250, Z250 and the CBR 250 to name some. As there has been an increase in high performance bikes in India as well, bike makers are considering Indian market a lot more important now.

Honda 150SS Racer Design

Honda 150SS Racer bike does look its part. The fascia is just like a cafe racer. It gets round headlamp with a daytime running LED on it. There is a white projector light embedded in it. The headlamp surround has a metallic touch to it. This seems a lot premium and upmarket in the look of materials. The front mud flap has carbon fiber finish on it. From the side, the bike does look muscular and it does stand out in its styling.

Honda 150SS Racer side

The fuel tank is large enough and it looks sculpted. There is a radiator to cool the engine. There is some amount of bikini fairing. The bike looks futuristic and appealing too. The tail also looks sharp as razor. But this was all about the concept version. The company has released a teaser on the production version of the bike, it does look different. It doesn’t get the same tail lamp, there are some change in features too. But a lot of the things have been retained. There is a upside down fork, 17-inch wheels and different seats too.
