Chevrolet India will be introducing new products in the Indian car market and to begin with, the focus will be on utility vehicles. One is the Chevrolet Spin, which is a multi-utility vehicle against the Honda Mobilio and the Renault Lodgy, while second will be the Trailblazer. This is a SUV that will compete against the Ford Endeavour and the Toyota Fortuner. This has three rows of seating for seven people and is about 4800mm long. The Chevrolet Trailblazer will make its way into India in the second half of 2014.
Chevrolet will be launching the Trailblazer in the second half of 2015 with a 2.8-litre diesel engine. A choice of two drivetrains will be offered – a five-speed manual transmission and a six-speed automatic featuring electronic shift-control with clutch-to-clutch capability and an electro-hydraulic control module. The 2.8-litre engine is rated at 180bhp and 470Nm with an available six-speed automatic transmission 440Nm with a five-speed manual and will be available in 4×2 and 4×4 variants.
The Trailblazer will be coming to India via CKD route from GM’s Thailand plant. Martin Apfel, president, GM Southeast Asia and Chevrolet Sales Thailand, said the introduction of the new Trailblazer, which will be built at GM Thailand’s manufacturing facility in Rayong, will boost Chevrolet’s presence in the world’s fast-growing SUV markets.
