Maruti Suzuki has been testing the S-Cross for a long duration in India as it testing the 1.4-litre petrol and the 1.3-litre DDiS engines. The S-Cross was showcased at the 2014 Auto Expo and Maruti Suzuki will launch this new crossover sometime in early 2015. In the European market, the S-Cross is sold with a 1.6-litre petrol and diesel engine options. For India, this isn’t possible as it will increase the duty on diesel powered S-Cross, which will make it an expensive deal. The S-Cross will compete with the Fiat Avventura and Toyota Etios Cross. We learn form our sources that Maruti might just drop out the SX4 badge, as it sells the S-Cross in Europe. The S-Cross will be made available in four to five variants in petrol and diesel.
The variants for the petrol and diesel will be:
- VXi/VDi with ABS
The features that the S-Cross will offer will be keyless entry, push start and stop button, Bluetooth connectivity, ABS and airbags, other than this, Maruti will become the first company to offer a touch screen system in the crossover system with navigation and even an option of reverse parking camera. This latter feature will be available on the ZXi+ and ZDi+ variant. This will be same music system that will be offered even on the Ciaz ZDi+ and ZXi+.
The pricing of the S-Cross will be between Rs 7-10 lakhs, making it a lot more competitive with a better service network and badge value too. For the Ecosport, Maruti Suzuki will introduce another compact SUV called as the YBA and another new premium hatchback, which will be the YRA.
