Renault Kwid Electric will be making its way into China. This will be the same body style with multiple changes and it shall make its debut in the Chinese market. As per a report from Nikkei, the new French automaker along with Nissan is looking at getting the XBA-codenamed car to China. Also the company shall be localising this new platform in one of the world’s largest car market.

What is more, the Kwid will be offered in this market, where the two company’s have partnered with a local brand Dongfeng Motor. The Nissan CEO Hiroto Saikawa confirmed on a new electric A-segment car for the Chinese market.

The Renault and Nissan brand wants to get the MFA platform. The Kwid has been a highly successful project for Renault and this is helping the company to add more products in other markets. The company is looking at adding more products on this platform and it is even duplicating the same strategy for Brazilian market as well.

The Kwid is being localised there also and shall be manufactured as well.

There shall be multiple changes in the product and we aren’t certain on what all features will it get. But this product shall be made purely for the Chinese market and these learnings will be transferred to other markets also maybe. All depends on how successful will the Kwid be in the Chinese market. The Chinese government is subsiding electric cars and helping car makers to set up plants. Due to this reason, car makers in China are focusing on increasing their electric car manufacturing and introducing many new products every year.

The Kwid comes with a 800cc and 1000cc engine options, where the bigger engine even has AMT option as well.

At the same time, the Datsun rediGo is also built on the same platform and Datsun is introducing the rediGO 1.0-litre also very soon.
