2017 Skoda Octavia facelift launched for INR 15.49 lakhs (ex-showroom)

The 2017 Skoda Octavia facelift is nearing its launch, which is scheduled on 13th August. It has been spied testing on several occasions as well. This is a facelift of the current Octavia and it will get certain cosmetic upgrades both on the exterior and interior. One of the best sellers in Europe, the Skoda Octavia also enjoys a good brand equity in India. Skoda will look at cashing on it this time, with the facelift. How will the 2017 Skoda Octavia be? 2017 Skoda Octavia facelift Price in India

There will not be much of a difference in the pricing of the new car. A slight increase is expected owing to the new additions. There has been a drop because of GST across the segment.

The 2017 Skoda Octavia is a facelift. The major change is the new fascia. It now gets split headlamps. This makes the car look aggressive. The revised front butterfly grille and the newly styled bumper add a lot of flair. The fog lamps are also new. The headlamps are full LED ones with LED daytime running lights as well. The grille and headlamps now give the Octavia a distinct look. From the side the car is similar to the current model. However, it gets a new set of alloy wheels, this time 17-inch ones instead of the earlier 16-inches. This will up the premium quotient of this car.

The rear sees the Octavia with redesigned tail-lamps which are LED again and also a new rear bumper. The tail lamps continue to be C-shaped ones. The car looks sleek overall and even more premium now.

2017 Skoda Octavia facelift Interiors

The interiors of the 2017 Skoda Octavia facelift also get some upgrades to make it more premium and with the times. The interior them will be a black and beige one. The dashboard, steering and the seats will continue to be the same as the current model. The instrument cluster however, will have dials similar to the Skoda Superb, with multicolour display.

  The major change is that it gets a new 8-inch touchscreen display system which has Columbus navigation system. It will also get a hands free parking system and umbrella in the rear doors, like the Superb.

There are new touch buttons on the console.

It also gets ambient lighting, foldable tray tables behind the front seats, bottle holders, customizable key settings and a portable torch mounted in the boot. The space on the inside is good enough. The front seats are large, comfortable and offer good support. The rear seats are also comfortable and there is a centre arm rest too. There is more than sufficient space and even features in offer.

2017 Skoda Octavia facelift Engine

The powertrains of the 2017 Skoda Octavia facelift will remain the same. These will be a 1.4-litre TSI petrol, a 1.8-litre TSI petrol and a 2.0-litre TDI diesel. The 1.4-litre unit has power of 148bhp and  torque of 250Nm. The 1.8-litre has an impressive power of 177bhp and 250Nm of torque. This time around we can expect the new vRS in the coming days. There will be a six-speed manual for all the engines, however the 1.8-litre petrol shall even have 7-speed DSG and the diesel will have 6-speed DSG.

The 2.0-litre diesel engine has a power output of 141bhp and a torque of 320Nm. There are 3 transmission options available. There shall be no changes in mechanicals either. The engines will be the same and the tuning as well. The petrol and diesel engines both are powerful and fuel-efficient. Then there is more than sufficient space and the quality is top notch.
