Mahindra KUV100 started a new segment when launched. This new segment is the micro SUV segment. The Mahindra KUV100 did not see the kind of success that Mahindra had envisaged. Though the KUV100 looked like a promising vehicle, some aspects of this micro SUV seems to have not caught the fancy of customers. Mahindra hence is planning to launch a new version of the KUV100, which essentially will be a facelift. Let’s see what the 2018 Mahindra KUV100 will offer.

Mahindra has just introduced some tech features on the XUV500 and as par a company quote some of these will even trickle down into the KUV100 as well. The new KUV100 will have some new features and at the same time it get minor cosmetic changes too. The KUV100’s design and interior quality have been one of its not so strong points and Mahindra will want to revive it. There will be added features too as the Grand i10 and the Ignis, which are of the same price offer a lot more than what the KUV100 gets. This will help Mahindra to hold a good market share. This new SUV was adding on to the numbers of the company and this could be the next big product if altered well with more features and better quality.

2018 Mahindra KUV100 Launch Date

The new KUV100 will get the mFalcon G80 petrol engine. This 1.2-litre mFalcon G80 engine churns out 82bhp of power and a torque of 114Nm. The diesel engine will be the  1.2-litre mFalcon D75 unit. This engine develops 77bhp of power and 190Nm of torque. These engines are mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. There is a chance of an AMT making its way into the KUV100 this time. These are the new-generation Falcon engines that are powering the smallest Mahindra vehicle. The diesel has good pulling power and it drives well in the city and even on the highway. At no point of time it feels to 1.2-litre. There is more than sufficient torque to pull it and the Eco mode is where it looses all its excess torque and it mellows.

The petrol engine has decent performance, it is the diesel that does have better performance. The petrol engine vibrates at idle speeds and this isn’t a very good point for the KUV100. The diesel is a lot more refined and has very limited vibrations, which we can expect from any diesel engine. So, the petrol engine will need some work to be done on it. However the petrol engine has hardly any noise.

The 2018 Mahindra KUV100  will essentially have the same exterior design, however it is expected to get some styling changes. Mahindra will want to make this SUV a more subtle one this time. The front end will have a cleaner look, which will make the micro SUV look bigger. The tailgate of the KUV100 is also expected to be a new one this time. From the side not much will change but a smoother surface is expected to be seen here.  The 2018 Mahindra KUV100 will also get a new set of alloy wheels. These maybe black machined or diamond cut ones, which will increase the style quotient of the vehicle. Mahindra will add a new set of black alloy wheels as we have spotted on some of the test cars.

There will be an update of the headlamps and even the tail lamps. The curves on the vehicle could also see a reduction. This will make it an exciting package and Mahindra could get Pinanfarina to turn around things for them. The company had acquired a major stake in the Italian design firm and it value addition for the brand over here.

2018 Mahindra KUV100 Interiors

On the inside all black interiors will continue. This will be offered across all the models. This time we expect ABS and dual airbags to become a standard feature across all variants. The difference will be in the quality of this new SUV. The 2018 Mahindra KUV100 will have soft touch plastic and much better quality too. The space on the KUV100 is good enough, and there are no complaints about that. However the boot size is a tad too small for a vehicle of this height. It is smaller than most of the other SUVs in the market.

There will be additional features on offer too. A touchscreen is likely to be offered with reverse camera, navigation and even bluetooth. This will even get the Eco-sense and even of the other features from the XUV500. This will make it an exciting SUV to consider if there isn’t a major increase in its pricing. The KUV100 2018 might even loose its sixth seat also.
