It isn’t a V12 engine and it is not even a turbo-charged motor.

Surprise surprise! The Lambo V10 engine has done it and this one doesn’t even produce 700bhp of power. Seems like a mistake somewhere, but it isn’t. What Lamborghini has done, is got the basics right. A highly aerodynamic design, put the super car on a diet to become lean, lose flab and gain some power and torque. We are speaking of the Huracan Performante. This is based on the Huracan, and is something like the SuperLeggera version. But there is more oomph added than what the SuperLeggera recipe suggests. We tell you in more detail about this performance supercar. Read further to know more.

Lamborghini did spin out several variants of the Huracan in a short time span, as it was launched just about two years ago. There has been the Spyder, rear-wheel drive version and then limited editions. Nothing has been as special as the Performante. Everything has been revised from the chassis tuning to aerodynamics and even the engine performance. Whats more, the weight has seen a reduction too. Perfect recipe!

Lamborghini Huracan Performante05

Lamborghini Huracan Performante comes with a 5.2-litre V8 engine that churns about 631bhp of power at 8000rpm, and the torque is 600Nm at 6,500rpm. This comes mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. The best bit that about 70% of the torque is available at 1000rpm, this makes it sprint to 100km/hr in 2.9 seconds. The top speed is in excess of 325km/hr. This is the same like the regular Huracan.

The Super Trefeo technology has trickled into the Performant and this is what makes it quick and agile.  The exposed carbon fibre engine cover reduces the weight. The Performante even has an aluminium carbon fibre space frame, with body panels made of aluminium.

The company’s Forged Composite carbon-fibre technology, engine cover, front splitter, rear wing and rear fascia. The weight distribution is at 43/57 for F/R. Suspension stiffness is up by 10%, roll stiffness see an upper movement too up 15%. Front and rear control-arm setup has the same set of dampers, but an optional adaptive magnetorheological units are there too. The same electrically-assisted steering wheel is standard while the variable-ratio setup is optional.

Aerodinamica Lamborghini Attiva (ALA) a new new aerodynamic system developed by the Italian automaker for better downforce. This enhances the car’s ability to go faster around bends. Then there are the electric motors that control the flaps in both the front and rear, with those in the front opening to allow air to pass. This enhances the downforce giving better grip to the tyres.

If you this all is too much gyaan! Then in simple words, the design has been tuned in a manner that the air pushes the car to stick to the ground. This is opposite of an airplane, so with more stickness, the tyres grip better. The car can carry more speed into a turn due to this. As the car is lighter and has more engine power too, there is improvement in lap timing. The Lamborghini Huracan Performante has done a Nurburgring lap in 6:52:01. This is faster than the Porsche 918 Spyder, which is indeed a lot more faster in 0-100km/hr and has a lot more power on paper too.
