Isuzu MUX launched at INR 23.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi)

Isuzu MUX has been launched at INR 23.99 lakhs (ex-showroom, New Delhi). This is the price for this new SUV, which will compete with the Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. The Isuzu brand has been doing well with the XV-Cross pick-up and hence it has now got the MUX, which is the replacement for the MU7. This is an all new SUV for the Indian car market. Isuzu MUX comes with a 3.0-litre diesel engine and five-speed automatic transmission. There are two drivetrains on offer, one is the 4×2 and the other 4×4. It is a bit disappointing to see that Isuzu is offering a five-speed automatic, when the competition has moved on to six-speed. At the same time, competition has been downsizing their engines for better efficiency without any compromise on power and Isuzu is still offering the older 3.0-litre engine for India, as it is offering the new more powerful and efficient 1.9-litre diesel engine in other markets.

Isuzu MUX Price in India

Variants Price (ex-showroom, Delhi)
Base Model INR 23.99 lakhs
Top Model INR 25.99 lakhs

The Isuzu MUX is priced at INR 23.99 lakhs to INR 25.99 lakhs (on-road, Delhi).  It is quite attractive in pricing. Where the MUX works well is the product, technology and reliability. However, the brand needs some more time to prove its worth as many aren’t aware about Isuzu’s quality.

Isuzu MUX Exterior

The Isuzu MUX is a stylish looking SUV. It also looks quite intimidating. The MU-7 looked more like the Force One, and that is what many assumed the front to be. The Isuzu MUX on the other hand has a more stylish looking front. It has been well chiselled with a sleek front grille and melding headlamp design. This time there are even daytime running LEDs as well. The side profile looks a lot similar to the Chevrolet Trailblazer, and the duo even share the same platform as well. The side and the rear both have similarities to the Trailblazer. There could be a possibility that the same design team might have made the two vehicles. There are large 18-inch diamond cut alloy wheels and huge wheel-wells too that makes the SUV look bigger.

Isuzu MUX Interior

The Isuzu -Chevrolet family bond continues on the inside as well. The MUX has the same interior just like the Trailblazer. The centre console is dominated by a large touchscreen system that occupies the central slot. This is followed by air-con controls that arranged in a circular manner. The 10-inch screen has DVD, maps, reverse parking camera, bluetooth, USB and aux connections.

The Isuzu MUX is a seven seater SUV with three rows of seats. The second row has roof mounted AC vents, while the third row uses the second row’s AC blower to manage the heat at the back. The interior styling is very much similar to the Chevrolet Trailblazer as both same the same platform and a lot of elements too.

Isuzu MUX Specifications

The Isuzu MUX gets a 3.0-litre turbo diesel engine. This churns about 175bhp at 3,600rpm and the peak torque is 380Nm at 1,800rpm. This engine comes with a five-speed automatic transmission. There is a 4X2 as well as 4X4 version available. The engine isn’t as powerful as the competition. For India, there will only be the 3.0-litre diesel engine, and this is the same one that comes on the Trailblazer. The fuel mileage as per the ARAI cycle is 13.8km/l for the 4×2 engine. So we expect the efficiency to be about 8km/l in the city and about 10km/l on the highway.

Agreed. We don’t recommend anyone to but this SUV.

  2. MotorOctane Team says

Isuzu and Chevrolet have been a part of the same group GM, and they have had platform, technology and engine sharing. Hence, is the case. Both are made on the same platform, and are more of a rebadging just like the Nissan Sunny and Renault Scala.

Agreed. We don’t appreciate the pricing, thew mechanicals on offer and even the features. It is indeed a rip off and the V-Cross is for sure a better deal. Just FYI, Isuzu has quietly been increasing the pricing of the V-Cross. It has now come to 18 lakhs from 15.5. There are no features on offer, whats more even for safety there are dual airbags. A 2.2-litre Storme has more torque on offer too. So, yes it isn’t worth a consideration even for once.

Safari Storme which Is now Indian Army’s official Vehicle!! with 156hp and 400 nm , Limitid slip diffential 4×4 can easily kill not only MuX.. but Dmax V cross also in practicality. As for 18 lac car you will pay insurance amount of RS. 65000 every year, and for 30lac car, you will have to pay more than 1lac !!!! Rs. Per year. D Max was also over priced with useless –Break Over Angle Killing Length …..and MuX is Robbery!!!
At 31 lakh On Road Delhi, MuX is OverPriced by more than 10Lac Rs.On Road, as per its specs and cheap Dmax like plastics, body, headlights, interiors and earlier expectations.
It is actually D-Max VCross (which has 15.35lac ON Road price) with 500 more CC , 2 more seats, EVEN shorter tax saving length , and an outdated 5speed automatic , Plus 15Lac Rs. Extra, You will actually pay the price of TWO D-Max VCross 4×4 SUVs. Same Brand Almost same Vehicle and JUST DOUBLE price. AND NO SERVICE CENTERS.
It only deserves Rs.2.5Lac extra ON ROAD over D MAX VC i.e not more than 18Lac in any State of India.
As it is an old vehicle, designed nearly in 2011 in joint venture with Chevrolet. Which means both paid only half the cost of its development, Meaning it became already cheaper by good margin,
Plus ISUZU which has Only two passenger cars to produce with one or two trims levels onlyONE Engine,,which are already 6 year OLD, that too on the same platform, that too is also very well shared in terms of expenses by Chevrolet (GM) and ISUZU. That means Isuzu does not have need to employ bigger work force like Maruti or Toyota or Ford… They are Copy pasting one vehicle since 2013.They don’t have multiple assembly lines of sedans ,hatchbacks, crossovers, their development teams and all their big Expances. Which actually makes it affordable under 18lac…but ISUZU is FOOLING us.
MuX is an Outdated one with Only 4Star NCAPsafety and Euro4 engine, only 600mm wading depth, No Differential LocK!! , only 225lit Cargo space, Child Only compatible third row , 5Gears, Headroom eating AC ducting and music system in the Roof, 17inch wheels, and very ordinary 220mm Ground clearance(Cousin Trailblazer has 253mm), 170HP, 380Nm,65litfuel tank. (with 800mm wading depth ,LOCKING Rear Differential, 80-20 all time 4×4, 440lit bootspace,200PS power, 470Nm torque, 5Star safety, 5Cylinder Sporty Sounding Euro6 ready engine, 85lit fuel tank, 18inch wheel, Super Car like Instrument Cluster, Unmatched Stability on car like Fords famous hanling at just one lakh extra than MuX…Great!! No?, plus optional 8Air Bags, And active noise cancellation system, sun roof available)
MuX has Only 600m.m water wading depth(Endeavour 800mm, Fortuner700mm), It has Open Diffrentials which is a SHAME (Endeavour and fortuner has LOCKING rear ones, even safari has Limited slip Differentials, Thar has auto locking rear ones, and its a MOst utterly IMportant feature for a true 4×4) , it is Euro 4 which will be outdated soon (Endeavour is already Euro 6 Ready!!) , In 2016 with its OutDated Body Shell in AseanNCAP it scored only 4 star SAFETY rating..which is POLO like..SHAME (Fortuner and Endeavour Have latest BODY and so they scored FULL 5 STAR*****), it has OutDated 5speed gearbox( where as Fortuner and others like Endeavour has 6speed automatic At the very same price you may get equally powerfull and fuel efficient Endeavour2.2 trend, with bigger440 lit all seat up boot, against 230lit of MuX!! , 80lit fuel tank comparable to 85lac toyota PRADO ..MuX has 65 lit, full length 3rd row bench instead of MuX’s glass holder obstruction. MuX has ordinary Instrument cluster, Endeavour has Ferrari like fully digital one, one of a kind in India, Endeavour is a full time 4×4 with80:20 torque split all time, MuX is part time. Or pay 1 lac extra and get 3200cc 200BHP and 470NM Endeavour Over seas Endeavour has been compared with PRADO and also PRICED it IT and where as MuX is always slotted as the CHEAPEST 4×4 in Australia and Phillipins
