The Maruti Wagon R is being offered at a discount of INR 55,000 in Bengaluru. The discounts offered is INR 25,000 in Delhi and INR 50,000 in Pune. There is a one year free roadside assistance also being provided.  There will be an increase in its discount as and with time. The new-generation Wagon R is in the making and the company is looking at getting it sometime next year. This is when we expect the discounts on this tall boy will go up. 

 

Maruti Suzuki has made some changes in the Wagon R family. The Maruti Wagon R 2017 consists as the Wagon R and the Wagon R Stingray family. From now on, the Stingray will be offered only on the VXi+ variant. The two models have been merged and it will now be sold as a single model. The Maruti Wagon R 2017 price is starting at INR 4.56 lakhs to INR 5.89 lakhs (on-road, New Delhi). Above are the detailed pricing of this tall boy. The Maruti Wagon R was introduced with a new variant called as VXi+ this year. This was to add some more safety features that did go missing on it. The competition is catching up and Maruti is looking at reviving its product too. This was more of a refresh with additional features to keep the numbers going.

Maruti Wagon R 2017 Variants

The Maruti Wagon R comes in LXi, Green LXi, VXi, VXi AGS (AMT), VXi+ and VXi+ AGS variants. These are the six options. However, all shall offer an option of airbags too. These are the variants that are made available on the new Wagon R, with VXi+ being the new new one.

Exterior

The exterior styling is the same. The chrome front grille comes with boxy head lamps. These have the blue element added that makes it look good. The front fog lamps look stylish and appealing. The side profile is boxy. The tyres are 13-inch and slim for better mileage. Not too much for the tail lamps either. Soon, there will be new limited editions on the Wagon R, to clear the stock. This will be from early 2018 as per our prediction.

Instrument Cluster

The changes on the Maruti Wagon R 2017 are minimal. In fact it is only the VXi+ variant that does get some new features. The VXi+ variant gets projector headlamps, while the others get blue tinted ones. There is a reflector front grille and even chrome-finished tail lamps. The VXi+ even gets driver airbag as a standard feature.

The centre console is a simple one. There is an aftermarket music system, 2-DIN and it has three knobs to control the air-con. The lower variants like LXi do not even get a company-fitted music system. Maruti offers only on the VXi trim. The instrument cluster is made up of simple dials and have large size numbers that are easy to read. There is dual glovebox on the Wagon R. Though the other storage space are fairly limited. Not much space to keep your water bottles in the door pockets.

Maruti Wagon R 2017 Engine

Dashboard

The same 1.0-litre petrol engine is offered on the tall boy. The petrol engine produces about 67bhp of power, while the CNG churns close to 58. The torque on the petrol is about 90Nm, while it is a tad lesser on the CNG as it peak at 77Nm. Both the engines come with a five-speed manual transmission. It is however, the petrol that is also offered with an AMT option. This is also a five-speed transmission. There is no AMT on offer for the CNG variant, it is made available only for the petrol engine.

Maruti Wagon R Mileage

This 1.0-litre engine is highly efficient. It returns about 13-14km/l in the city for the petrol, while on the highway it is close to 18km/l. The Wagon R CNG should return about 24km/kg for the CNG variant. The CNG variant only comes on the LXi variant and the manual. The AMT version returns about 12km/l in the city and close to 16km/l.
