Features on this bike are noteworthy, specially at this price point. Yamaha has priced the FZ25 aggressively and this is an exciting bike to consider. For this price, you can only get the Yamaha FZ25 for a 250cc category. You may get some 200cc bikes at similar prices, but they will not offer such features and even performance.
Yamaha FZ25 Design
This is an attractive bike. The sleek headlamp is the highlight from the front. The headlight even has daytime running LEDs on it. There are three LEDs on the headlamp and this produces 35W of illumination, which is seen for the first time on any bike in this category. The Yamaha FZ25 also has a small black shield above the headlamp. The stance of the bike is muscular. The bike is also available in dual tone colours, which makes it stand out. The instrument cluster is fully digital, however a gear indicator is missed on it.
The side profile seems muscular and fuel tank appears to large from the side. The bugle on the fuel tank makes it look taller and we did really appreciate the design of this bike. There are shrouds below the tank and the bike looks appealing due to that. The rear is simple as there aren’t too many things going on over there. The seat is stepped one and it is wide enough. Two people can sit on it, but the step is higher, which means a person might not be very comfortable on turns. The bike weighs about 148 kilograms, which makes it lighter and does improve its performance. The diamond shaped chassis makes this possible.

Yamaha FZ25 Engine
The Yamaha FZ250 is an all new engine, which is a single cylinder unit. The Yamaha FZ25 has a power output of 20bhp at 8000rpm and has a torque of 20Nm. The other aspect of this bike that is worth a mention is that it comes with SOHC, fuel-injection and then there are two valves too. The bike is faster due to the light weight. At the push of a button, the single cylinder fires unit fires up with a mellow rumble. The exhaust note is deep but not really loud. This Yamaha sounds really good while meeting the RTO pass-by norms. The torque at low engine speeds is excellent and the accelerator is sensitive to inputs. The gearshifts are slick and responsive too.
Though this bike’s performance cannot be compared to the Duke 250, in terms of initial acceleration, but engine has good power and torque. It feels like a matured bike and is relaxed even at high speeds. The exhaust note pleasing to the ears and it does have a decent boom. We managed to do 130km/hr on this bike and it might do a little bit more than this. The engine is also vibration free and there is minimal vibration even at high engine speeds. Refinement is one of the key aspects for this engine.
Yamaha FZ25 Ride and Handling
Ride quality of this bike is the highlight. The suspension has fine tuned to give the best possible ride and yet it has good handling characteristics as well. The FZ250 has good braking with both wheels having discs. Though it is a shame that no ABS is offered at the moment. The gear shift lever quality could have been better, aand the gear lever feels a bit flimsy.

The Yamaha FZ25 has a top speed of close to 130km/hr. This is fine for a bike of this calibre. The FZ25 is not about just top speed but the experience it offers. The gear ratios are also well-spaced.
Yamaha FZ25 Mileage
The Yamaha FZ25 returns around 35 km/l in the city and close to 40 km/l on the highway. Yamaha performance bikes are bred for better performance, and fuel-efficiency won’t be the most important thing for a potential buyer. However, the mileage figures are good enough. The company claims that the mileage should be about 43 km/l.
Yamaha FZ25 Colours
The Yamaha FZ25 is available in three colour options. The three colours are
- Ballistic Blue

Yamaha FZ25 Safety Features
This Yamaha FZ25 has front and rear disc brakes. At the moment, there is no ABS on offer. Not even single-channel. It will be made mandatory only when the new rule is passed in 2018.

The Yamaha FZ25 will be competing with the KTM Duke 200, TVS Apache RTR 200 (FI), Benelli TNT 25, Honda CBR 250R . These will be the direct competing bikes with the Yamaha FZ25.
The Yamaha FZ25 is quite a complete bike. It looks imposing, gets modern elements and is stylish. The engine is torquey and the FZ25 feels like a bigger bike. We couldn’t find any flaw as such, in the bike. All in all, at a price of INR 1.3 lakhs on road, it proves to be very good value for money as well.
