Skoda Auto India has launched the facelift version of the Yeti at Rs.18.99 lakh and Rs.20.53 lakh for the 4X4 version (ex-showroom Delhi). The facelift Yeti gets some cosmetic changes on the exterior and some minor equipment upgrades on the interior. The facelift version of the Yeti will only be available on the highest models in the 4X2 and 4X4 variants. Change on the exterior include new front and rear bumpers, bi-xenon headlamps, LED taillamps, new alloys and colour options for the roof.
On the interior the Yeti gets Skoda’s new three spoke steering wheel, keyless entry, electrically folding mirrors and an eight speaker sound system. The Yeti also comes equipped with cruise control, ABS, EBD, brake assist, tyre pressure monitors, ESP and hill-hold. The same 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine is retained from the pre-facelift model. It produces 109hp on the 4X2 variant and 138bhp on the 4X4 variant. The price of the new car is slightly higher than the old car, but Skoda holds firm that it will be making the numbers in this niche segment.
There is one change in the mechanicals. The Yeti earlier on had the fourth-generation Haldex clutch and now it is the fifth-generation. This has better response than its predecessor and the grip offered by this new all-wheel drive system is even better. The downsides of the Yeti are that there is no base model and no automatic transmission on offer. The Skoda Yeti is one of the first compact SUVs to make it to India, however the pricing is on the higher side. Now, with no Ambition model, the entry model more is even more expensive than before.
