Hero Lectro is a new brand in the company’s portfolio. This is an EPAC (Electric Pedal Assisted Cycle) has been launched in the Indian market. This is the first of the array of new Hero’s European brands that the company has introduced in India. The Hero Lectro shall be offered with four product offerings. What does this new bicycle have on offer? We share our detailed preview.

Hero Lectro was first launched in the UK, and later on showcased at the Eurobike 2016 in Germany, last September. Hero is looking at enhancing its reach in the Indian market.  Pankaj Munjal, Chariman and MD of Hero Cycles stated, “EPAC is a nascent segment in the Indian bicycle market. Even as the premium bicycle segment has shown strong growth over the past few years, the EPAC segment has only recently started and has huge potential in the country. Lectro was designed and developed for the European market where EPAC’s are a major draw, with a consistent growth of over 25%, in India, Hero has taken the lead to build and create this category. With Lectro, we are aiming at bringing about a shift in the consumer behavior and give a boost to the EPAC segment.”

Hero Lectro Technology

All the Hero Lectro bicycles use lithium-ion battery packs. These batteries can be easily charged and discharged. There is a three—point LED indicator that displays the battery charge level. This also has a brushless direct current (BLDC) motors that are synchorous motor and come integrated with an accelerator sensor at the throttle grip. The motor controller is located underneath the battery box.

The Hero Lectro range is priced between INR 42,050 to INR 83,050. The three versions that we have the details on are Lectro Ozone, Lectro Renew and the Lectro Spark.

Hero Lectro Ozone

This is the most affordable bicycle of the lot with pricing at INR 42,060. This comes with a 36V 8.8Ah Panasonic cells. It does get LED display, Bafrang-RM G10.250D, 36V, 250W, 40Nm, 36H rear hub motor. F-white reflector, rear reflector, Cadence Sensor w/o torque, Motor Power Cut-off upto 25km/hr. Range/Charge 45km, Aluminium alloy frame. Bicycle weight is 22.6 kilograms.

Hero Lectro Ozone Front

The major highlights of this bike include fat tyres— the big bouncy 4’’/10cm wide Kenda fat-bike tires on the Renew model, and suspension front forks.
