Ford has been working on an all new transmission called as C-Shift. Now, as Ford and Volkswagen have been the only automakers who are working dual clutch transmission even on the small hatchbacks, we expect this to be a new transmission. Our sources close to the plant suggest that at the moment it could be the introduction of the transmission as there has been no news of producing it.

At the moment, all the new Fords that are being manufactured have the DCT on the Figo and the Figo Aspire. This could be an all new transmission for the American automaker. Is it planning to get an AMT? We aren’t certain. It is a bit too early to come to any conclusion.

Ford C-Shift Transmission. What could it be?

Ford C-Shift

We reckon this transmission could be for India use only. Ford will be trying to differentiate its Indian product from the one it exports to Europe and other developed markets. Ford’s Figo and Aspire haven’t been doing well as the previous Figo had. So, the company has been working on ways to enhance its sales numbers.

Now, that the company is planning to get a touchscreen system on the hatchback and the compact sedan, we reckon the company will also be wanting to get a more affordable transmission too.

So, the C-Shift could be a single clutch transmission or maybe AMT. We do not have confirmed reports on this, but this transmission will make it into production for India for sure.
