The company that holds a major stake in the Indian car market and especially for petrol engines, doesn’t have a petrol engine offered on the S-Cross. At the moment, the S-Cross comes with two diesel engine varieties, now the Maruti S-Cross petrol will be soon making its way. Most of the crossover and UV buyers in India have preferred diesel engines, and this was one reason why the company got the diesel engine. Now as the move has been towards the petrol engines, Maruti will be getting this engine on the S-Cross soon. What does it have on offer? We share all the details.

Maruti S-Cross Petrol Price

Variant Price (on-road)
Base Petrol INR 10 lakhs
Top Petrol Automatic INR 12 lakhs
Top Petrol INR 11 lakhs

Price is the key to the petrol engine. This will be about a lakh cheaper than the diesel engine. So, we expect the new S-Cross petrol to be priced at INR 10 lakhs to INR 11 lakhs (on-road). This will be made available in five variants. Maybe, Maruti could even surprise us with an automatic on the S-Cross. This will be more expensive than the expected pricing. The petrol automatic should be priced at INR 12 lakhs.

Maruti S-Cross Petrol Engine

A 1.5-litre petrol engine will be powering the S-Cross. In terms of power, it will have 100bhp and 133Nm of peak torque. This engine could come mated to a six-speed manual transmission and there could even be a CVT on offer. The new S-Cross will have this engine on offer for those who do not travel much and need a more affordable engine, which has good mileage and decent performance. This engine won’t be able to match the outright performance of the 1.6-litre diesel, this is more of a comfortable cruiser. To drive will be an easy task as one doesn’t feel the need to shift gears that often.

Maruti S-Cross Petrol Design

No changes in the design. The S-Cross will only get the VVT badging on the front fender. As this is a part of the Nexa family, there won’t be LXi/VXi type of badging to differentiate the S-Cross. So, there won’t be any difference in the styling of the new S-Cross petrol when compared to the diesel version. Even in features, both will be the same. The same range of variants shall be offered on the S-Cross and the petrol will have the same bells and whistles. Dual airbags and ABS will be offered as a standard feature.
