The Tata Viago (Kite 5) compact sedan was spied without any camouflage. The prototype was earlier displayed at the 2016 Auto Expo. The Tata Motors team is already working on launching new Kite 5. The Kite 5 is a codename for this new compact sedan from the company.  The car seen in the pic appears to a top-end variant. This variant gets black-machined, sporty looking alloy wheels. The rear has a thick chrome sill on the boot lid. The bronze colour of the car is also an all-new one, never seen on an other Tata product.

Our sources indicate that it is likely to be named Tata Viago or Tata Altigo. Tata Motors is looking at carrying forward the Go tag on the sedan version too aka Tiago. Will the Kite5 be a good buy? What does it pack in? We explain this our Tata Viago preview.

Tata Viago Launch Date

As the launch date for the Tata Viago hasn’t been revealed and we are expecting it be come in by mid 2017, the company will have to close in on several aspects of the vehicle. We were the first to find out that the new Tata Aria Eagle will be called as Hexa, a long before the Geneva Motor Show also. The new Tata Viago is likely to enter into production by early 2017. This will be manufactured in the company’s Sanand plant where the Nano and the Tiago are already manufactured. Also, the Tata Viago and mostly the Nano Pelican will be manufactured there.

Tata Viago (Tata Altigo) Price

Tata Viago (Tata Altigo) Engine

The Tata Viago/Altigo will come with a 1.2-litre petrol and 1.05-litre diesel engine. These are the same engines on the Tiago as well. The Tata Viago/Altigo will have a five-speed manual transmission and there will be AMT on offer too. These engines will produce a bit more power than the Tiago. For instance, the diesel should see an increase in power to about 75bhp. This will help the company to differentiate in the two products further.

Tata Viago (Tata Altigo) Features

The Viago will see an increase in the features list. For instance, there will be a touchscreen system, instead of the black and white on the Tiago. There will be rear armrest too. This will add on to the conveneince for those who will like to get driven. The rear seat angle will also be more reclined. This will also contribute to better comfort for those who are chaffeur driven.
