Mahindra Two Wheelers has procured BSA’s global rights and for India and neighbouring countries, even the rights for JAWA. We have been familiar with the JAWA brand and it will be coming back to India. What is more? The JAWA bikes will be manufactured in India at the company’s Pithampur plant. This is what will make the bikes even affordable. Mahindra Two Wheelers already has its plant and it will be sold here.

Jawa showrooms in India

JAWA motorcycles will be sold in India through its new set of showrooms. Mahindra 2 Wheelers will be looking at introducing it to its channel partner. The showrooms for these bikes will be different and it won’t be shared with Mahindra’s 2 Wheeler showrooms.

Also, there won’t be any Mahindra branding on the BSA or JAWA bikes. There won’t be any sign of Mahindra on it. However, the company will be manufacturing and distributing it.

Jawa strategy for India

Just like Royal Enfield, all the BSA  and JAWA bikes will be made in India. These bikes will be exported from India to other markets. As Mahindra has a strong reach in India, the company will have to reduce the production cost. Jawa will be sold in India, however BSA will be majorly for other markets like North America and Europe.

Jawa Launch Date in India

It is a bit too early to come to any particular date for that. We expect Jawa to make it to India by 2018-19. Mahindra has announced that it will take about 2 years to develop the products. This is when the entire product development will be done. Jawa will be competing with the Royal Enfield range of bikes, not in product to product but in the brand value.

Jawa Bikes

The development and testing of these new products from Jawa will be done majorly in India. The BSA bike products will be developed outside India. Mahindra will be using its racing technology into the bikes for both.

Jawa Competition

From what we see, it is majorly Royal Enfield that will be competing with Jawa. There is no other brand that enjoys this much and heritage other than RE.
