Tiago is a well-proportioned car. The front mesh grille and the sharply styled headlamps are catchy. Interiors of the Tiago are well laid out. It feels quite classy too as compared to many others hatchbacks in this segment. The complete styling looks premium. It is loaded with features. Things are ergonomically placed and there is sufficient space too.

The Kwid’s dashboard in comparison has a simple layout. It has a fully digital instrument console. The steering wheels of both cars are chunky and nice to hold, but the Tiago also het steering mounted controls in addition. The Kwid on the other hand gets a seven-inch touch-screen system which the Tiago does not feature. The touchscreen system comes with Bluetooth and Navigation. The Tiago has bluetooth but not navigation, but you can pair your phone and get voice guidance through an app. Both have decent storage space, however the Kwid has more boot space at 300 litres.

In quality and interior ambience, the Tiago wins hands down. It doesn’t get a touchscreen, but it has eight speakers. The Kwid 1.0 has a two speakers

The Tiago comes a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Revotron petrol engine that produces 84bhp of power.  This engine seemed quite peppy and revs well upto its redline at 6500rpm,  however it is pretty noisy and that noise intrudes into to cabin as well. There are two driving modes in it – Eco and City, where the former is to extract better fuel economy.

The Kwid 1.0 comes has a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder engine with 62bhp of power. There is good low end torque and the car pulls off  quite smoothly. There is enough grunt to keep it going and is a breeze to drive in the city. The Kwid 1.0 has decent power, however the Tiago is more powerful. On the other hand, the Kwid has a more refined and silent engine.

Tata Tiago vs Renault Kwid 1.0 Ride and Handling 

What impressed us the most in the Tiago, was its ride quality.  The car really rides well and absorbs undulations, potholes and bad roads with aplomb, something which is very European in nature. The suspension is set on the softer side and works well in the city.

The handling is suited more to city conditions. The steering feedback is fine and the steering weighs up well when speeds rise.

The Kwid also has a brilliant suspension set up. It gobbles up potholes well and provides a smooth ride to the occupants. The Kwid has a better overall balance as compared to the Tiago. On highways it does not lose its composure even at triple digit speeds.
