2017 UM Renegade Commando FI launched

The 2017 UM Renegade Commando FI has been launched, as now BSIII vehicles cannot be registered. The cruiser bike was launched about a year ago at the 2016 Auto Expo. The upgrade is only for the engine. As it is a new launch, the bike will be made available through its 45 dealerships across the country. Is it worth considering? 2017 UM Renegade Commando FI Features

An 18 litre fuel tank, analogue speedometer on the tank, trip meter, blue dial, halogen head lamp, pillion back rest and neutral gear indicator. This is what is offered with this bike in terms of features.  There is no ABS at the moment on this bike. The front tyre profile is 110/90R16 and rear tyre is 140/90R15.  There is a 2-piston calliper disc brake of 280mm at the front. Rear has 280mm drum brake.

2017 UM Renegade Commando FI Engine

New 279cc single cylinder, water-cooled engine is powering the bike. This engine produces about 24.8bhp of power and a maximum torque of 22Nm. A six-speed transmission comes bolted to this engine. A 41mm hydraulic telescope suspension for the front and the rear has twin hydraulic with spring type. Now, with the fuel injection system, there is no change in the engine’s power, but the company claims that the bike can now have variable throttle response, as it can now be tuned depending on how the customer needs it.

2017 UM Renegade Commando FI Competition

As this is a cruiser bike, it will be competing with the Bajaj Avenger and the likes of Royal Enfield Thunderbird. Now, as the company is targeting leisure biking, RE will be one of the key competing products. As the company at the moment doesn’t have a strong reach, it might struggle to reach out to many cities.

2017 UM Renegade Commando Price

This new bike comes at about INR 1.72 lakhs (on-road, New Delhi). The company is targeting new bike riders for whom affordability is key. The brand is looking at enhancing its reach in the market with its competitive pricing.

2017 UM Renegade Commando FI Mileage

The Renegade Commando should return close to 30km/l as an average of city and highway riding. In the city, the mileage should be somewhere close to 35-38km/l, while on the highway it is about 34km/l.

2017 UM Renegade Commando FI Top Speed

A cruiser bike isn’t known for its top speed. It is a bike that has been built for good ride and comfort.

For the Renegade, the top speed if at 125km/hr. Somewhere in that league.

2017 UM Renegade Commando Colours

At the moment, Commando will be made available in three colour options. Black, green and silver. Green is the most stylish colour of the lot as the bike gets some retro styling with this.
