Kia has officially teased its upcoming SUV, the Sorento, to rival the Toyota Fortuner in India. The brand has opened bookings for this new SUV, and it is expected to launch next month. Kia Sorento Launch: What’s New?
Alongside the teaser release, the brand quietly revealed another interesting detail of this SUV. Earlier, the Sorento was expected only to get the petrol hybrid powertrain for India, but the booking page suggests otherwise. Interested buyers can choose to book between two powertrain options – hybrid and diesel. This suggests a diesel Sorento is also coming to India.
In international markets, the Sorento is powered by a 1.6-litre turbo petrol engine with a strong-hybrid setup and a 2.2-litre diesel engine. It looks like both these engines will be offered with the India-spec SUV too.

What Else?
Apart from revealing the powertrain details, we have also got the spyshots of what’s coming inside the Sorento. The spyshots have revealed the dashboard flaunting a curved dual-screen setup and Kia’s new steering wheel. Other notable features revealed were a wireless charging pad, powered and ventilated seats, electric boss mode, rear AC vents, rear charging sockets and more.
The Sorento will be the brand’s first hybrid-powered SUV in India, and it will be a direct rival to the Skoda Kodiaq, VW Tayron, Toyota Fortuner, MG Gloster and others.

Expected Launch & Price
Kia has yet to reveal the launch timeline for this model. Still, we expect it to reach showrooms later this month or in early September. We expect the new Sorento to be priced between Rs. 45 lakh and Rs. 55 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
