New Maruti EV Spotted Testing

Maruti Vision e-Sky Side

Last year, at the Japan Auto Expo, Suzuki showcased its new Vision e-Sky electric kei car. The model is expected to go on sale in Europe by 2027. This new Suzuki model was recently spotted testing. The spyshots show the model boasting a compact, tall-boy-like silhouette, like the WagonR.

While the test mule was heavily camouflaged, some elements were still noticeable, like projector headlamps, sporty alloy wheels, ADAS, and new ORVM styling with integrated turn signals. At the rear, we could spot C-shaped taillamps with LED lighting elements, a roof-mounted spoiler, and a rear wiper. With its compact dimensions, this new car is expected to be Suzuki’s new entry-level EV.

Dimension-wise, the concept measured 3,395 mm in length, and the spyshots suggest the e-Sky boasts a similar length.

What Else?

The spyshots do not reveal the interior of the model. However, we could spot the presence of ADAS, which suggests it will boast several modern features. The list of features could include a dual-screen setup (for infotainment and instrumentation), a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, ADAS, multi-colour ambient lighting, and more.

The spotted test mule did not feature a sunroof, not even a single-pane unit. This suggests that the automaker might skip including it in the final production model.

The automaker has not revealed the battery specifications of the model yet. However, it is confirmed that this EV will have a range of more than 270 kms. We expect this EV to be equipped with a battery pack of around 25-30 kWh capacity, paired to a single motor.

India Launch

Maurti Vision e-Sky

Maruti has already revealed its plan to launch six new EVs in India by 2031. The e Vitara is already on sale, and a new seven-seater is in the works. Maruti could bring this micro EV to India to compete with the MG Comet, Tata Tiago, and the upcoming Vinfast VF3.

If this EV comes to India, we might not see the exact version that will be on sale in Europe, but rather a tweaked version. This could mean it loses out on some modern features like ADAS and others to keep the final cost in check. Still, it could retain the same battery pack as the international model. That said, we expect this new EV to be launched in India by the end of 2027. Expect this new micro EV to be priced between Rs. 6 lakh – Rs. 10 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
