Nissan Tekton Launching Tomorrow

The Renault Duster returned to the segment that it created, against the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Tata Sierra, Kia Seltos and many more. And now, the Duster’s sister SUV, the Nissan Tekton, is scheduled to launch tomorrow, July 9. We believe that the Tekton will be the cheapest SUV in its segment, undercutting the current cheapest SUV and its sister car, the Renault Duster. That said, let’s take a look at what the new Tekton has to offer.

Design And Features

In terms of design, the Nissan Tekton gets a distinctive, bold design that will help it stand out from the crowd. From the teaser, the Tekton gets a muscular stance and borrows design cues like the C-shaped LED DRLs, a red applique on the grille and much more from Nissan’s flagship SUV, the Patrol. It will get 18-inch alloy wheels, a rugged skid plate, C-shaped LED taillights with a connected strip, and much more, giving the Tekton a robust design language.

As the Tekton shares most of its components with the Renault Duster, we expect the Tekton to borrow most of the features from its sister car. Expected features include a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, powered and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, a wireless charging pad, level 2 ADAS and the list goes on. All of these features, combined with the rugged design, make the Tekton a great package. Now, let’s dive into the powertrain options in the new Tekton.

Nissan Tekton – Powertrain And Pricing

Nissan Tekton

Much like the features and tech, the Tekton will likely borrow the powertrain options as well from the Duster: a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine (99bhp & 160Nm) and a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine (160bhp & 280Nm). It is unclear whether the Tekton will get the 1.8-litre petrol hybrid powertrain from the Duster. Now, coming to one of the major highlights of the Tekton – its pricing. In the Renault-Nissan partnership, the Nissan alternatives have usually been cheaper than the Renault options – the Nissan Gravite is cheaper than the Renault Triber, and the Nissan Magnite is cheaper than the Renault Kiger. Similarly, we expect the Nissan Tekton to carry a price tag ranging between Rs 12.38 lakh and Rs 22 lakh (on-road, Mumbai), slightly cheaper than the Duster.
