New-Gen Kia Sonet – What’s New?

The Kia Sonet already gets a slew of features and sports a sporty design. Now, with the new-generation update, the Sonet is expected to be based on the K1 platform, which already underpins the Kia Syros. What will happen with this? There are two main things – one will be the elongated length, and the other will help keep the price in check.
Regarding size, we have already seen test mules of the new-gen Kia Sonet, and its length appears to be longer than before. With the larger size, we also expect Kia to increase the width, as the current Sonet can comfortably seat two passengers in the second row. With a stretched width, it could accommodate three people comfortably.
Speaking of the design, we can expect the new-gen Sonet to be inspired by the Seltos as well. It could feature a split headlamp setup, boomerang-shaped LED DRLs, and slimmer tail lamps. Apart from that, we also expect a new set of alloys for the updated SUV.

Interiors

Now, the interiors are where we expect some major changes, including a completely new dashboard layout. And, feature-wise, expect a curved dual-screen setup (for infotainment and instrumentation), like the Venue, to do the job. Moreover, with the new generation, the Kia Sonet is expected to be safer. For this, we also expect the inclusion of a Level 2 ADAS setup.

Powertrains

Even with the new generation, the Sonet is expected to carry over the same 1.2-litre NA petrol, 1.2-litre turbo petrol, and 1.5-litre diesel engines. The manual and automatic transmission options are also likely to be carried over.
