At the launch event of the Tata Sierra.ev, the Indian automaker showcased some accessorised versions of the Sierra EV. Among them, a new 7-seater caught everyone’s attention. However, it won’t be a passenger 7-seater SUV; it’ll be more like a vehicle for a jungle safari. Here’s how it looks –

New Tata 7-seater Showcased –
The Tata Sierra Sanctuary Edition- that’s what they named it for its new 7-seater model. The Sanctuary edition is designed specifically for wildlife parks for a zero-emission safari experience. That’s all for saying, but what’s actually unreal is its design – it ditches the OG Sierra look, the roof’s cut open, stadium-like seats are included for third-row passengers, it has a ladder, and it has a dedicated camera spot for camera enthusiasts. There’s also a roof at the very top – something that makes it look like a golf cart. There might even be an option to remove the roof and enjoy the skylight, but for that, we would need to go on an actual jungle safari.
A bull bar across the front holds two auxiliary lights, a rope, and a tow hook. The SUV’s front end is similar to the Sierra EV’s, so we won’t be talking much about that, at least for now. Another interesting thing is that there are two ways to enter the third row seats – the first is by tumbling down the second row seats, and the other way is climbing up the ladder. Also, if there’s no network for the maps, there’s a compass to help you find a safe spot.
Now, many might think that as the Sierra gets third–row seats and extra equipment, there won’t be a boot, but that’s not the case. The Sierra’s sanctuary edition actually gets a boot – with space to carry your luggage. The door handles are changed too; basically, it’s a flush door handle with a traditional one attached to it.
Powertrain & Availibility
The Safari Edition of the Sierra EV will be powered by a 75kWh battery pack with a QWD configuration. The battery is paired with dual motors producing around 361bhp and 504Nm.
This Sanctuary edition of the Sierra EV will be only meant for wildlife sanctuaries; as a wildlife explorer, it won’t be available to private customers.
What Else?
Now that Tata has shown that a 7-seat layout can fit in the Sierra, we can expect a 7-seater SUV based on either the Sierra or the Argos architecture to be in the pipeline. That 7-seater could eventually be made available to private owners and sit beside the Safari in Tata’s lineup.
