Maruti is all set to launch the new-gen Brezza this month. With this update, the Brezza will see several changes and feature additions, and a new powertrain will be made available. With this new powertrain, the Brezza is expected to be one of the most fuel-efficient SUVs in its segment – let’s see how.

New-Gen Maruti Brezza Mileage – 30KMPL SUV

Marutis are already known for fuel efficiency, and the current-gen Brezza offers good mileage – nearly 25km/kg with the CNG option. However, Maruti will try to raise the bar by offering better fuel efficiency with the new generation of this model. How’s this possible? Well, Maruti is already planning to introduce a new powertrain for the Brezza; the mill would be either a 1.0-litre turbo petrol or a 1.2-litre NA petrol (which is currently available in other Maruti cars). Apart from that, Maruti has also been testing a new 1.2-litre turbo petrol mill. And it could also make its way into the new Brezza.
If Maruti gets a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, NA petrol engine in the Brezza, it could also bring in a hybrid version. As Maruti is already testing its series hybrid, which will be based on the NA engine. Maruti has already claimed that this new hybrid tech will deliver good fuel efficiency, around 35 kmpl for the Swift.

The same series-hybrid tech could also be offered on the Brezza, helping deliver better fuel efficiency and lower costs. While the mileage figures aren’t out yet, we could expect this Nexon rival to deliver a mileage figure of nearly 25-27kmpl (claimed). This will translate to 20-22 kmpl in real-world conditions, depending on driving behaviour.
The outgoing Brezza currently comes equipped with a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine, which means it misses out on the GST benefits offered to sub-4m SUVs, compared to the rivals. Now, a lower-capacity engine will help the Brezza fit perfectly under the new GST norms – and cut prices. So, it will be a win-win for Maruti, as the new Brezza will be priced lower than the current one.

What Else?

Apart from pricing and the new powertrain, Maruti will aim to kill off the dated feel of the current-gen Brezza with the new model. So, the Maruti SUV will get several new feature additions, including a big touchscreen, a new digital driver’s display, and a panoramic sunroof. The chances of it getting ADAS look slim.
Speaking of pricing, the new-gen Maruti Brezza could eventually be priced a bit lower than the current model after receiving GST benefits. That said, we expect the new-gen model to be priced between Rs 8.5 lakh and Rs 16 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
