Upcoming Cheapest Maruti 7-seater – Solio

The newest Maruti 7-seater that we are expecting is the Solio. This car is already available in the international markets, but it is a 5-seater version. However, Maruti is planning a 7-seater version for India. Being an affordable 7-seater, it will be a sub-4m compact car with 3-row seating. So, it will likely rival the Renault Triber and Nissan Gravite in India.
Design-wise, it will be a KEI-car-like model that Suzuki sells in Japan. Its design will most likely resemble the WagonR – so assume it to have a boxy, tall-boy-like design, but a bit more stretched than the WagonR to fit in the third row seats. As it will be a compact 7-seater, the third row might not be comfortable for adult passengers on long trips, but it may be perfect for children. It can also be a good fit for those who want a 5-seater car with good boot space, as folding the third-row seats expands the boot space.

Interiors

To keep the price in check, we don’t expect Maruti to heavily load it with features. So the offered features might be the ones that are actually necessary. The feature suite could include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment, a driver’s display, reverse parking camera, 6 airbags as standard, a manually adjustable driver’s seat, dedicated AC vents to all three rows and more.
While the feature suite might look very lame these days compared to the other cars, this 7-seater will have a cool feature that is sliding doors. Being a compact 7-seater, the knee-room in the 2nd and 3rd row might be compromised but its tall-boy design will offer a good head room.

Powertrains
This 7-seater being a compact model, we expect it to have a 1.2-litre NA petrol engine from the Maruti Swift. There even could be a CNG powertrian available with the same. Moreover, Maruti is also planning a new series hybrid powertrain based on this same mill, so this 7-seater could also get the same. Another possibility is of a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine. The turbo petrol is missing out from the Nissan Gravite and Renault Triber, hence, it could be a good addition on this model. ‘
