Safest Rs 9 Lakh SUV – Skoda Kylaq vs Hyundai Venue vs Tata Nexon

Among these SUVs, the Hyundai Venue ranks as the safest SUV tested by BNCAP, followed by the Skoda Kylaq and then the Tata Nexon. However, today we won’t just be considering the BNCAP rating; instead, let’s first have a look at the safety features all these cars boast –
| Skoda Kylaq | Tata Nexon | Hyundai Venue |
| 6-Airbags | 6-Airbags | 6-Airbags |
| Reverse camera | Level 2 ADAS | Level 2 ADAS |
| ABS with EBD | 360-degree camera with blind view monitor | 360-degree camera |
| Traction Control | Tyre pressure monitoring system | ABS with EBD |
| Hill Hold Control | Front parking sensor | Hill start assist control |
| Tyre pressure monitor | ABS with EBD | Parking Assist |
| ESC | ESC | Tyre pressure monitoring system |
| Hill Hold Control | ESC |
The Tata Nexon and Hyundai Venue have the upper hand in terms of safety, as both SUVs offer ADAS and a 360-degree camera. On the contrary, the Skoda Kylaq comes with a reverse parking camera but misses out on one of the most-asked-for features: a 360-degree camera. That said, feature-wise, the Nexon and the Venue stand out, including a better safety net.

Now, after comparing the feature suite, let’s look at the BNCAP safety scores of these SUVs
| BNCAP Scores | Skoda Kylaq | Tata Nexon | Hyundai Venue |
| Adult Occupant Protection | 30.88 / 32 | 29.41 / 32 | 31.15 / 32 |
| Child Occupant Protection | 45 / 49 | 43.83 / 49 | 44.46 / 49 |
| Safety | 5-Star | 5-star | 5-star |
BNCAP-wise, the Hyundai Venue beats the other two SUVs by quite a margin in the Adult Occupant Protection rating, while the Kylaq has a better Child Protection rating. Here, the Nexon ranks third overall, but its build quality is quite impressive.
All the models are made using a high-strength steel frame, which increases the structure’s rigidity. So none of these compromises safety.

Which One Should You Choose?
Firstly, before making a decision, let’s have a look at the pricing
Tata Nexon – Rs 8.60 and Rs 16.98 Lakh
Hyundai Venue – Rs 10.39 Lakh and Rs 19.08 Lakh
Skoda Kylaq – Rs 8.99 Lakh and Rs 15.50 Lakh
(All pricing are on-road, Mumbai)
The Nexon and Kylaq are the most affordable in the pack, while the Venue is slightly more expensive. Now, the Nexon offers a better suite of safety features than the Kylaq, but it includes ADAS in its top trim, which costs more than the Kylaq. However, at a similar price, if you want to have a 360-degree camera, the Nexon and Venue might be better options. The Nexon and Venue are also slightly more comfortable than the Skoda Kylaq, if that is also one of your preferences.
