BYD has confirmed to launch a new SUV in India on 9th June. The brand hasn’t revealed exactly which model will be launched; however, based on recent teasers, the new model is expected to feature a plug-in hybrid powertrain. New Mileage SUV Launching – What’s New?
Currently, the information released by the brand is that the new model will feature a plug-in hybrid setup and launch on 9th June. That said, the model’s name isn’t confirmed yet. However, based on recent sightings, we expect BYD to either launch the Sealion 6 or the Atto 2, both of the models comes with a plug-in hybrid setup. However, BYD could launch the Atto 2 to challenge the Creta first, as it will be its first plug-in hybrid model for India, so they might plan to play it in the mid-size SUV segment first.
If BYD launches the Atto 2, it will likely be positioned against the Hyundai Creta. Moreover, with the hybrid setup, the Atto 2 has a claimed fuel efficiency of 50 kmpl; this includes the electric range as well as regular petrol mileage. The hybrid setup gets a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a 7.8kWh or 18kWh battery, producing 166bhp and 212bhp, respectively.
Dimension-wise, the BYD Atto 2 will be positioned below the Atto 3, with a length of 4.3m and a wheelbase of 2.6m.

Features & Expected Price
Talking about the features, the Atto 2 features several features, including a 12.8-inch touchscreen infotainment, Automatic AC, 360-degree camera, six airbags, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, panoramic sunroof and more in its package.
The BYD Atto 2 is expected to be priced between Rs 19 lakh and Rs 30 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). More information about the model is expected to be revealed at its launch on 9th June.
