Tata Safari EV Spotted!

That’s right! A test mule of the Tata Safari EV has been spotted again. This SUV will rival the best-selling Mahindra EV and the second best-selling EV in India, the XEV 9S. The Safari is one of the most loved nameplates in India, and the Safari EV will carry the baton forward. The Safari EV will be Tata’s first 7-seater electric SUV and is expected to be launched by the festive season of this year. Based on the same Acti.ev+ platform, the electric version of the Safari shares many of its components with the existing Harrier.ev. So, let’s take a look at what the Safari EV will have to offer!

Design And Features

Much like the Harrier.ev, we expect the Safari’s electric version to look quite similar to the ICE version. Even though everything underneath the body will be different, we believe that the overall design will be familiar. However, Tata may offer a few distinctive design elements like a closed-off grille, a revised front and rear bumper, aero-designed wheels and a few more. On the inside, we could get to see a new colour theme, while the rest of the materials could remain the same. The EV version will bring in features like a 14.5-inch touchscreen, a 540-degree camera, in-car payment systems and much more. Other features that are expected to remain the same are powered and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, rear ventilated seats (6-seater version), wireless charging pad, a 12.25-inch instrument cluster and much more. Now, let’s move on to the major change in the Safari!

Tata Safari EV Spotted – Powertrain And Pricing

The Safari EV will share most of its components with the Harrier.ev, we can expect to see the same powertrain options in the 7-seater SUV. It will likely get a 65kWh battery pack and a 75kWh battery pack, along with the options of RWD and QWD (Quad-Wheel Drive). In the Harrier.ev, smaller battery pack with a single electric motor will produce 235bhp and 315Nm of torque and a claimed range of 538km. On the other hand, the larger battery pack with a single electric motor produces the same power and torque and a claimed range of 627km.
With the dual-motor QWD setup, the Harrier EV produces 309bhp and 504Nm of torque along with a 622km claimed range. We could expect the same powertrain options with a slightly reduced range, as the Safari EV would be heavier. The Safari EV could carry a price tag ranging between Rs 22 lakh and Rs 32 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). We believe that the Safari EV could be a tough contender for the best-selling Mahindra EV, the XEV 9S. So, would you wait for the Safari EV?
