1. Upcoming Mid-Size SUVs – New-Gen Hyundai Creta

One of the best-selling SUVs, not only in its segment, but overall, is due for an update. The Creta has been the bread-winner for the Creta, and with the upcoming new-gen model, it is only going to get better. The new-gen Creta was recently spotted testing, and looked bigger and more feature-rich than before, thanks to the new K3 platform. It is expected to get a plethora of features like a new PLEOS infotainment system, a co-passenger screen, a sleek digital instrument cluster, level 2+ ADAS, a rear wireless charger and the list goes on. Hyundai will offer a more premium and refreshed cabin styling, along with a whole new exterior design.

We expect Hyundai to also offer the same engine options: a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine, a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. What could be new is a 1.5-litre petrol hybrid powertrain, which will amplify mileage as well as lower emissions. Hyundai will likely launch the new-gen Creta by early 2027, and we expect it to carry a price tag ranging from Rs 13.20 lakh to Rs 25 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

2. Nissan Tekton

The Renault Duster returned to Indian shores with new-age features and tech while retaining the same robust and rugged build. And now, Nissan will soon follow the Duster footsteps with the new Tekton. While the Tekton was teased last year, the brand has confirmed that the Tekton will be officially launched on July 9. The Tekton draws design inspiration from Nissan’s flagship SUV, the Patrol, and it works quite well. This SUV looks bold, rugged and ready to take on the streets.

Considering that the Tekton will share most of its components with the Duster, we expect the Tekton to get features like a panoramic sunroof, a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, powered and ventilated front seats, an ADAS suite and much more. Also, we expect it to get the same powertrain options as the Duster: a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine (102bhp & 160Nm), a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine (160bhp & 280Nm) and a 1.8-litre hybrid engine (which will likely be launched later). We expect the Tekton to carry a price tag ranging from Rs 12.30 lakh to Rs 22 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

3. Upcoming Mid-Size SUVs – Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder Facelift

Rushlane

Toyota’s best-selling SUV, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, has been a dependable choice for many seeking fuel efficiency, reliability and comfort. And now, Toyota is working on updating the Urban Cruiser Hyryder as the SUV has been spotted testing a few times. So, what can we expect the facelift to bring in? Well, the SUV will get a few cosmetic updates on the outside as well as a few changes inside the cabin to give it a fresh look. We believe that the Toyota SUV will borrow most of the features from the Maruti Victoris.

Which means, the Urban Cruiser Hyryder facelift could get features like a 10.1-inch touchscreen, a 10.25-inch instrument cluster, powered and ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof, level 2 ADAS and a few more. We believe the SUV could also borrow the underbody CNG tank tech from the Victoris, ensuring better space and practicality. That aside, the Toyota SUV will continue to get the same powertrain options: a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine, a 1.5-litre petrol hybrid option, and a 1.5-litre CNG option. Toyota could launch the Urban Cruiser Hyryder facelift by the end of this year and could carry a price tag ranging from Rs 13.50 lakh to Rs 25.50 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Honda has recently announced that the brand will introduce two SUVs by mid-2027, including a compact SUV and a mid-size SUV. We believe that the mid-size SUV will be none other than the facelift of the Honda Elevate. The Honda City just received a significant update in terms of design and features, and we could get to see similar changes in the upcoming Elevate facelift. While it is unclear what the cosmetic upgrades would be, we can expect to see new features like a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats, a 10.1-inch touchscreen, level 2 ADAS and much more.

However, it is likely that the Elevate will continue with the same 1.5-litre NA petrol engine producing 119bhp and 145Nm of torque, along with either a 6-speed gearbox or a CVT. Honda could launch this updated Elevate by the end of the financial year. We expect the Elevate facelift to carry a price tag ranging from Rs 14 lakh to Rs 20 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).
