Toyota To Launch This Flex Fuel SUV!

Toyota Taisor Flex Fuel

Maruti’s partnership with Toyota has been successful for both parties. And now, Toyota could profit further by using Maruti’s flex-fuel technology. Maruti displayed the flex-fuel version of the Fronx quite some time ago, and we expect Toyota to bring one for the Taisor as well.
The Taisor looks quite identical to the Fronx, and that will continue with the flex-fuel versions as well. The design language will remain untouched, but you would get quite a few “Flex-Fuel” badges to suggest that the Taisor can run on E85 fuel. The Taisor hasn’t received major updates since its launch in 2024. So by the time the flex fuel arrives, the Taisor could get a much-needed facelift to liven things up.

Powertrain

We expect the flex-fuel version to be offered with the 1.2-litre NA petrol as standard. Currently, this engine produces 89bhp & 113 bhp, and similar performance figures are expected with the flex-fuel. As for the transmission options, it could be offered with a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. It is still too early to predict whether Toyota will offer the flex-fuel technology with the 1.0-litre turbo as well.

Importantly, the Taisor would now be future-ready. With the government slowly increasing the percentage of ethanol blended into petrol, flex fuel seems quite necessary. Many car owners have been worried that their cars won’t be able to cope with higher ethanol blends. So if you are one of those worried, the Taisor flex fuel is the perfect car for you. It will be compliant with E25, E30 and even E85 fuel. The flex fuel is as future-safe as it gets.

Expected Pricing & Launch

Currently, the Taisor 1.2-litre variant is priced between Rs 8.78 lakh and Rs 10.90 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). And with the flex-fuel variants, it is expected to get Rs 75,000 to Rs 1 lakh. That is the premium you would have to pay for your car to be future-proof.

We expect it to be launched by late 2027. The Fronx is likely to be launched first, and the Taisor will follow shortly after. We expect the Glanza to adopt the flex-fuel technology as well.
