KTM owners in India are known to be passionate motorcycling enthusiasts who revel in the company’s high-performance products. The company on their part has also equipped their portfolio with top levels of kit and is constantly known for way to improve their stellar offerings. Their latest announcement, introducing the option of retro-fitment of the ride performance enhancing Slipper Clutch system is yet another example of a company that is at the top of their motorcycling game.

Priced at INR 9000 (labour and taxes at actuals), the Slipper Clutch package should have the 2015 model year (and older) Duke 390 & RC 390 owners hopping with joy. The paid performance upgrade is available through all KTM authorized service outlets. The Slipper Clutch assembly was initially announced as part of the 2016 model year updates to the Duke 390 & the RC 390 siblings. However, the sheer response from existing customers prompted KTM to introduce this key performance system in the existing motorcycles as well.

The Slipper Clutch system is designed to lessen the chances of upsetting the bike dynamics during high performance riding, especially when going off throttle around corners and such. It also serves to improve riding comfort and lower the stress on gearbox components due to aggressive downshifting.

Slipper Clutch systems are usually seen on motorcycles higher up the pricing ladder. KTM should therefore be applauded for being the first motorcycle manufacturer to bring this crucial piece of tech to the sub-500cc segment. The retrofit program shows that the company not only believes in new model sales, but also knows a thing or two about supporting their existing customers in the best way possible. This move by KTM should see brand loyalty & buyer sentiment soaring through the roof, which should only augur well for sales in the time to come.
