Simple Ultra Unveiled!

Simple Energy, a Bangalore-based EV maker, has been trying to gain popularity in the Indian market with the Simple One electric scooter. And now, the brand has introduced a new scooter, which is capable of an IDC-certified range of 400km. This is currently the highest range figure for any electric scooter in India. In fact, this range figure is more than the claimed range of India’s best-selling EV, the MG Windsor. Technically, the smaller 38kWh battery pack is good for a claimed range of 331km. So, this scooter has a larger range figure than the best-selling electric car in India. So, how did Simple manage to reach this impressive range figure?
The Ultra scooter uses a 6.5kWh battery pack, which is the largest battery pack fitted to an electric scooter in India. This large battery pack allows for this massive range figure. Apart from the range, the Simple Ultra has not backed out on performance. This scooter can go from 0 to 40 kmph in just 2.77 seconds, and has a claimed top speed of 115kmph. In terms of features, the Ultra will borrow most features from the updated Simple One Gen 2. Features include a 7-inch touchscreen, turn-by-turn navigation, 6 riding modes, a 35-litre underseat storage, a tyre pressure monitoring system and the list goes on.

What Else?

While this scooter is not yet launched, the Simple Ultra will be quite the package, with a claimed range that is unheard of in electric scooters. We expect Simple Energy to price this scooter around Rs 2 Lakh (on-road, Mumbai). This will then compete with the likes of the Ather 450X Apex. It will be interesting to see how the Ultra scooter works in real-world conditions. But the range and performance figures look quite promising.
