Pricing

So, the scooter that we are talking about is the Suzuki e-access. Yes, it was shown at the Auto Expo held last year. Regarding pricing, the E-Access starts at Rs 1.88 Lakh (ex-showroom). Unlike the other two-wheeler makers, which actually aim to undercut rivals’ prices, Suzuki has kept prices very high. But it also offers other benefits, like a 7-year or 80,000 km extended warranty with the E-Access. Moreover, Suzuki offers a buyback guarantee of up to 60% after 3 years, a Rs 10,000 loyalty bonus for existing Suzuki owners, and a Rs 7,000 welcome bonus for new customers. That said, the bookings for the model have already commenced.

Suzuki promises that this infrastructure will expand, and first-time EV buyers don’t need to worry about the after-sales process. This shows how thoroughly Suzuki has planned compared to Honda.

What Else?

The overall design remains simple and elegant. If not for the E-Access badge on the side, you wouldn’t realise that it is an EV. As for the features you get, there’s a keyless system, a multi-function starter switch, a front USB charging port, LED headlamps and tailamps, and a multi-information LCD TFT display.

Moreover, you get 3 drive modes -Eco, Ride A, and Ride B. You also get regenerative braking and reverse mode with the E-Access. It also gets a unique drive belt, which minimises maintenance costs.

This is the biggest talking point of the E-Access. The E-Access is powered by a Lithium Iron Phosphate battery, and Suzuki claims this battery type has a longer service life than traditional battery types. The claimed range is 95 km, which is low compared to its rivals. The 4.1kW (5.4 bhp) motor produces 15 Nm of torque and is powered by a 60 Ah (3.072 kWh) battery. 0-100% charging time ranges from 2 hours 12 minutes (fast charger) to 6 hr 42 minutes (for portable charger).
