India’s Best-Selling Car For 2025!

In 2024, Tata Punch did the unthinkable, topping the charts and breaking Maruti Suzuki’s 40-year streak of topping the charts, signalling the rise of micro SUVs. But, with more than 2.14 lakh units sold, the Dzire has reclaimed the top spot in 2025.
One of the biggest reasons for the high demand was the launch of the new generation Dzire, with updated interior, sharp contemporary styling, which differentiated it from the Swift and improved fuel economy thanks to the new 3-cylinder engine.

This, coupled with the addition of 6 airbags as standard across all variants of the Dzire and scoring 5 stars at the BNCAP as well as GNCAP, further strengthened the confidence of the buyers and addressed the safety concerns.
Another reason for this jump in sales was the GST rate rationalisation, which was implemented in September 2025. This reduced the Dzire’s prices by up to Rs 87,800, making the car more accessible to a wider group of buyers.
Low running cost, high fuel efficiency, extensive service network and bulletproof reliability are also among the reasons why the Dzire is so popular among fleet owners, which formed a major portion of the sales.

More About The Maruti Dzire
The Dzire gets a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that produces 80 bhp and 112 Nm of torque, and is also available with CNG. Claimed fuel efficiency for the manual transmission is 24.79 kmpl and 25.71 kmpl for the AMT variant.
The new Dzire also comes packed with features such as a sunroof, 360-degree camera, 6 airbags, a 9-inch touchscreen, and automatic climate control, among others.
Prices for the Dzire start at Rs 7.37 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) for the base variant, going all the way up to Rs 10.89 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) for the top variant.
Overall, the Dzire offers a value-driven package to customers looking for a reliable, comfortable and efficient car, which has led to its continued success.
