KTM RC 160 Launched!

While the Yamaha R15 has been the go-to choice for someone who seeks a proper performance sports bike in the 150-160-cc segment, KTM has now launched its very own 160cc sports bike. For the first time in India, the KTM RC 160 has been launched to take on the mighty R15. Priced at Rs 1.85 Lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai), the RC 160 is more expensive than the Yamaha. But does it justify its price tag?

Design

The RC 160 uses the same design DNA as the bigger RC 200 and the RC 390, with just a few graphic tweaks. So, it does look quite good. The graphics look crisp and will surely draw attention on the road. To add to the drama, KTM has also kept the exposed trellis frame in the signature orange colour. And thanks to the tweaked graphics, the RC 160 looks quite aggressive. However, as of now, KTM has only launched the motorcycle in a single colour scheme.

KTM RC 160 – Performance

The most important factor is the power, and KTM has nailed it. Much like the Duke 160, the RC’s 164cc engine produces 18.74bhp and 15.5Nm of torque along with a 6-speed gearbox. So, it is more powerful than the current Yamaha R15. KTM has always been at the top of the game when it comes to performance, and we believe that the RC 160 will not disappoint.

Features

While performance is already the best in the segment, the RC 160 may not be as feature-rich as its Japanese rival. The KTM gets features like dual-channel ABS with supermoto mode, an LCD display, USD front forks, and much more. When compared to the R15, the RC 160 could get a few more features to justify the price tag. Moreover, unlike its naked sibling, the Duke 160, the RC 160 does not get a TFT display either. So, the Yamaha R15 might just have the upper hand here.
So, would you get the KTM RC 160 over the Yamaha R15?
