Upcoming 7-Seater SUV – Volkswagen Tayron

Upcoming 7-Seater SUV

Last year, we shared some images of Tayron being tested, however, an official confirmation about its launch was yet to happen. Now, the brand has started with the teaser campaign of this 7-seater. In the first teaser, Volkswagen has revealed the SUV covered in a white cloth – but the lit up connected lights and the VW logo on the front and rear steals the highlight. The silhouette of the SUV is similar to the global-spec model. Apart from that, none other details of the SUV were disclosed.

What Else To Expect

Volkswagen Tayron Spotted Testing

Volkswagen will keep the design cues of the Tayron similar to the Tiguan R Line on the outside. Moving on the inside, the Tayron is expected to offer a practical cabin with soft-touch elements to enhance the premium feel. That’s what VW does, right? Talking about the features, we expect the 7-seater to come equipped with a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment, 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 3 zone climate control, HUD, powered front seats, front massage seats, 8-speaker audio system, wireless charging, level 2 ADAS and more in its package.

Talking about the powertrain, the VW Tayron is expected to come with a 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine capable of producing 202bhp and 320Nm. Transmission duty will be handled by a 7-speed DSG, the SUV could also be offered with the VW’s 4MOTION AWD system.

Launch & Pricing

At present, the German automaker is yet to announce the launch timeline of this model. However, we expect the model to be launched in the first half of this year. The SUV will come to India via the CKD route, hence expect it to be priced between Rs 50 lakh and Rs 56 lakh (on-road, Mumbai).

Why will it be cheaper than the Tiguan R Line? Well, the Tiguan R Line is brought via CBU route, while this 7-seater will be welcomed via CKD route, so less taxes.
