Mahindra recently unveiled the all-new Mahindra XUV 7XO. The most glaring change is the name itself. The old XUV 700 name is gone, and it will be called as the “XUV 7XO” from now on. The changes aren’t limited to the name itself, and here is all the information that you need to know about this all-new XUV7XO –

Looks

This has been the most talked-about point of the 7XO. The public adored the 700 for its looks. It was the right mix of road presence and sophistication. And with the 7XO, the recipe remains the same. The overall stature of the 7XO is identical to its predecessor, but it has updated design elements.

The grille has been updated and mimics the one from the 3XO. The headlamp setup has also become sharper, and the fog lamps have been shifted inwards. The taillights have been revised, and you also get a gloss-black panel across the rear that connects the two taillights. The colour options have been revised, and you can also choose from new alloy wheel designs. Furthermore, the top (AX7L) variant gets 19″ alloy wheels, which is an improvement over the 700.

Features

This has been the biggest improvement with the 7XO. The additions at the front include a triple-screen cockpit layout, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and built-in Alexa with ChatGPT as standard. This would make it the cheapest car on the market to feature the 3-screen layout as standard. You only get these features on the top variants of the Tata Sierra. You also get a 540-degree surround-view camera, compared to the 360-degree camera on the 700. Moreover, the sound system has been improved, and a new 16-speaker Harmon Kardon system is now available. It is also one of the first cars to get Dolby Atmos and Surround.

For the rear passengers, Mahindra have added rear ventilated seats, retractable sun blinds and rear wireless charging. When compared to its competition with the Sierra, Seltos and Creta, none of them have rear ventilated seats.

One disadvantage is the removal of physical buttons, and the climate control features have been installed in the infotainment screen. Many people prefer such a layout, but more often than not, it can be a hassle to use. Another omission is an electronic tailgate, which seems like a blessing in disguise.

Powertrain

The engine bay is the only place without changes. This is good news for XUV700 enthusiasts, since the previous engines were both robust and reliable. The 2.0L turbo-petrol and 2.2L turbo-diesel were fan favourites. The petrol produced 200 horsepower and 380 Nm of torque, while the diesel produced 182 horsepower and 420 Nm of torque. You get a 30Nm torque boost with the diesel-automatic. The gearbox options remain the same, with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed AT. You also get AWD on the AX7L and AX7T variants.

At the showcase event, Mahindra featured a system called “Davinci suspension”. The technicalities of this system may be confusing, but the main takeaway is that the ride quality will be better than ever.

Pricing

With the updated feature list, you would expect the pricing to increase significantly. Even the base variant offers an extensive list of features, yet the showroom price has been reduced by almost 40,000 rupees. The on-road(Mumbai) price starts at 16.4 lakh rupees and tops out at 30 lakh rupees. Mahindra have priced it aggressively, even more so than its predecessor.

The overall essence of the XUV700 remains the same as the 7XO, and Mahindra has revised it just enough to compete with rivals from Tata, Hyundai, and Kia.
