Tata Sierra

The Tata Sierra has been the biggest name of 2025. It might be one of the most talked-about things of the year, and rightfully so. Tata went to great lengths to market the “Sierra” brand and seemed to have found success. They went all-in with this Sierra by adding a plethora of features and pricing it aggressively. The looks have been a revelation as well. The Sierra looks like nothing else on the road.

You get Level 2 plus ADAS, a three-screen cockpit, ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof and every other feature you could think of. The engine is also supposed to be a game-changer with the all-new 1.5L TGDI Hyperion. Tata advertised this engine as the perfect combination of power and efficiency.

The car hasn’t even been launched yet, and has created waves in the market, forcing many manufacturers to upgrade their own midsize SUVs.

Mahindra BE6 / XEV9E

Very few people could have predicted the success of these SUVs. The BE6 starts at 20 lakhs and can go up to 30 lakhs, while the XEV9E starts at 23 lakhs and goes up to 33 lakhs (on-road, Mumbai). Despite such high pricing, both these cars sell in commendable numbers and have become common on Indian roads. These SUVs are the reason why Mahindra have recorded its best-ever EV sales. The mid-sized EV SUV segment is dominated by these two and has significantly higher sales than the Harrier EV, Creta Electric, and even the smaller Curvv EV.

Both cars offer impressive looks, excellent performance and an extensive driving range. The cabin looks futuristic and is loaded with features to the brim. Mahindra did a great job with both these SUVs and has gotten a great response as a result. The XEV 9E even won the Green Car Of The Year 2025 award.

Skoda Octavia RS

The sedan segment may be on the verge of extinction, but the Octavia fanbase is eternal. The first RS230 was such a hit that it was sold out within months. After such a response, they released the RS245, and that model was sold out in a matter of moments as well. Skoda tried the same recipe again, and the result was the same. Skoda limited this Octavia RS to fewer than 100 units, and it sold out before the deliveries even began.

The 2.0L TSI produces a whopping 260 horsepower and 370Nm. It can touch 0-100 in less than 7 seconds and tops out at 250 kmph. The 7-speed DCT and the low stance make for a delightful drive. Skoda targeted the niche Octavia RS fanbase and succeeded.

Kia Seltos

When first launched in 2019, the Seltos was a hit. But as of late, the sales have taken a hit. The Creta, Grand Vitara, Hyryder, Victoris, and the Sierra have seriously hurt sales, and Kia decided to take action by bringing in the next-gen Seltos. This is the most significant revision that it has gotten since its launch. The dimensions are bigger, and the looks have been improved massively. It is one of the best-looking SUVs in the segment right now. The engine options are the only thing carried over from the older model. The interior has also gotten a major update, and tweaks have been made to the feature list. While deliveries may not have commenced yet, the Seltos has been sought after.

What About 2026?

The Sierra and Seltos deliveries will begin next year, and January 2026 is set to be packed with launches as well. This includes the XUV 7XO, Renault Duster, Sierra EV, and the Nissan Tekton. While we still don’t know all the cars coming in 2026, it will take a lot from manufacturers to top 2025.

If you plan to buy a car, this is the best month to do so. Many manufacturers plan to raise prices next year, and the new models won’t be getting discounts anytime soon. Most brands are offering heavy discounts this month, and you should make good use of them.
