Upcoming Japanese SUVs – Honda SUB-4m SUV

Upcoming Japanese SUVs – Honda SUB-4m SUV

Honda is currently planning to enter the sub-4m SUV segment, with its new SUV. The brand announced it will be looking to slot in a new Nexon rival very soon, while we expect it to be done in the coming year.

This new SUV will share its underpinnings and several similarities with the Honda Amaze. Design-wise, expect it to get a boxy-like design – so it will not look like Amaze on steroids. What about the features? Again Honda might offer the same suite of features from Amaze on this model. But, we expect to see some additional features like a larger touchscreen, ventilated front seats, a powered driver seat, a sunroof, a digital instrument cluster, and more on this SUV.

Powertrains? Expect the same 1.2-litre NA petrol engine to do its duty However, Honda may tune the engine to offer better performance. A retrofitted CNG kit might also be on the cards later on.

Nissan Tekton

Nissan has also confirmed the launch of Tekton in the next year. The Nissan Tekton will rival against the likes of Hyundai Creta, Tata Sierra, Honda Elevate, Maruti Grand Vitara & Victoris, Toyota HyRyder.

The Japanese automaker has already revealed the design details of this SUV – which makes it look like a Baby-Patrol. But the interiors are still kept under the wraps. However, we expect the SUV to carry the feature list from the Duster SUV, which includes – 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment, wireless connectivity, ventilated and powered seats, panoramic sunroof, ADAS, 360-degree camera and more.

Just like the features, the SUV might get the powertrain setup too from the Duster. Expect the 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine, a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine, or a 1.5-litre NA petrol engine to do the work.

Honda 0 Alpha SUV

Honda recently showcased its 0 Alpha SUV, and it is expected to hit the Indian roads in the later half of 2026. The model will be based on the Elevate, and hence will be sharing a pile of its features. Despite this, it will be positioned above the Elevate in the brand’s lineup – so, expect a longer design.

Some features on the model include – Triple screen display, Level 2 ADAS, panoramic sunroof, 360-degree camera, high-resolution displays, ventilated seats, and everything a modern SUV requires.

We have already shared a few key details of the SUV. The new Honda is expected to get a battery pack ranging between 55kWh and 75kWh (compared to rivals like – Mahindra BE 6, Tata Curvv EV, and Hyundai Creta EV), with the bigger battery pack delivering an approximate range of 450+ km in real life.
