New Fortuner Rival Spotted

One of our readers shared some images of a camouflaged SUV. At first glance, the SUV appeared similar to the upcoming new-gen Seltos. However, when dived deeper, we learned that it is not the Seltos – but the Kia Sorento! An SUV that has been in discussion for a long time and seems to have finally arrived in India! Coming to the spy shot, one of the most interesting details is the interior. From the spy shot, we can see the centre console, which houses controls for drive modes, along with a rotary knob for the gear selector. The overall setup is very similar to the Sorento sold in global markets.

Apart from the interior, we can see the big 19-inch alloy wheels. The design of which is also similar to the global iteration. Rest, the SUV looks pretty huge and seems to have an excellent road presence – something that we Indians always love!

Upcoming 7-Seater SUV – Features

Coming to the features, the India-spec Sorento will likely share the feature list with the global model. Talking of which, the SUV could get a 12.3-inch touchscreen system, 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, Level 2 ADAS, connected car technology, ventilated front seats, multiple zone climate control, panoramic sunroof, and a lot more!

Powertrains 

Now, the Sorento is not an entirely new product for the brand. In international markets, the SUV is powered by a 2.5-litre petrol engine, a 2.5-litre turbo petrol engine, and a 1.6-litre petrol hybrid (including a plug-in hybrid). However, which of these engines will do the duty for India is not known, yet we expect Kia to prioritise a strong hybrid setup. The petrol versions are also likely to be offered.

Upcoming 7-Seater SUV – Launch & Pricing

The launch timeline of this SUV is still under wraps; however, we expect it to be launched in the coming year. Being a Toyota Fortuner rival, we expect it to be priced between Rs 45 lakh and Rs 55 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). But will this SUV be able to trouble the Fortuner? We need to wait a bit to know that!
