Yamaha has been planning its growth in the Indian market since the last 3 years and since then, they have been getting new models to help increase their footprint in the country. The last launch from the Japanese manufacturer was the FZ25, with which they stepped into the 250cc space and also have other variants lined up in that segment. To continue its ambition of 1.2 million bikes by this year end, Yamaha will be launching a new 100cc motorcycle. We were first to reveal this last year and it seems that this Yamaha 100cc is ready to enter the market. The name of this bike is yet to be revealed.

The Yamaha 100cc bike will be a new chapter for the company, in the context of the Indian market. Yamaha is eyeing a larger share in the market and this new bike is expected to help them achieve this. The new 100cc engine from Yamaha will help the brand to increase its sales. The company is looking at getting a lot more products in the Indian car market that will help them add sales. At the moment, the company has the 110cc and the 125cc Saluto, 150cc R15, FZ-S, 250cc FZ25 and then a 300cc R3 when it comes to the mass market.

The smallest bike currenty in the line-up  of the company is the Yamaha 110cc Saluto and the Saluto RX. This is the lightest bike sold in India. The Saluto RX gets the RX from the legendary RX100. This bike is only 98 kilograms and is the lightest bike on offering. The Yamaha Saluto RX is powered by a single-cylinder air-cooled 110cc engine that produces 8bhp of power. Yamaha 100cc Bike Launch Date

The Yamaha 100cc bike will be unveiled on 21st August 2017. The deliveries of this bike will begin by next month. The 100cc bike will compete with the likes of Hero Splendor, Bajaj Platina and TVS Sport

Yamaha 100cc Bike Price

The Yamaha 100cc will be priced around INR 48,000 (on-road). This will be in tune with the other bikes available in the market. Yamaha will be the first Japanese manufacturer to enter this segment.

This bike is also likely to be made on the same Saluto platform.

This will see a front weight reduction. It will help to improve performance and even mileage. Yamaha wants to achieve a higher market share with its commuter bikes. The 100cc will help to enhance its sales numbers.

Yamaha 100cc Bike Design

The design of the Yamaha 100cc will be simple. This is also what works in this segment The bike will focus more on utility and low cost rather than flamboyance. It will have a round headlamp and a twin dial instrument cluster. There will be only a speedometer and a fuel guage with tell tale lamps. The fuel tank will have recesses on either side to add some good looks.

It will have a triangular side panel which will also have some storage space. The seat will be longish and also slightly broad.

The bike will also get a large rear carrier which will add to a lot of utility. The tail lamp will be simple stand alone type. It will feature a full chain cover. The wheels will have spokes and there won’t be any option of alloys. This bike will be comfortable to ride especially on rural roads and the broad seats will help both rider and pillion to be comfortable.

The Yamaha will have a 100cc air-cooled, single cylinder engine which will have around 8bhp of power and 8.5Nm of torque. This engine will be mated to a 4-speed gearbox. The Yamaha 100cc will be tuned to provide good mileage and at the same time will have decent low end torque.

This manufacturer is on the rise and the company is looking at increasing its sales in the two-wheeler market, be it bikes or scooters. Yamaha is targeting 1.2 million unit sales in India by 2017. With the 110cc and the 100cc, this is quiet possible for the company. By 2018, the target is to achieve 1.

8 million units. The company is looking at enhancing its scooter sales too. At the moment, Yamaha’s scooter share is in single digit. The Fascino and Ray ZR have been the latest launches that have contributed to some more sales to the company’s scooter portfolio.
