KTM Recall – What’s Happening?
The KTM ADVs have been one of the most popular and affordable adventure motorcycles available in the country. However, its North American division has now recalled 9,070 motorcycles after detecting a fault in the electronic throttle system.
The issue mentioned above affects the KTM 390 Adventure models (built 2022-2024), as well as the Husqvarna Svartpilen and Vitpilen 401 motorcycles (built 2022-2023). This issue primarily results in a sudden, unresponsive throttle, raising major safety concerns.

The primary source of defects comes from the throttle’s electronic parts, which can become corroded over time, and the ECU might cut the engine to idle mode without warning. Due to this, riders report a sudden loss of power, which can be dangerous while riding on highways.
Now, even though the announced recall is made for the KTM motorcycles from the North American region. The faulty units were sourced from Uno Minda Ltd, a major supplier in India. These units were used on the motorcycles made between 2021 and early 2024.
KTMs Resolve
KTM is currently working on replacing the throttle body with a redesigned part. The motorcycles produced after May 2024, have better sealing and cleaner assembly. Moreover, the owners in the United States who have already paid for repairs are eligible for refunds.

Are Indian KTMs In Trouble?
Now, as the defective part was sourced through an Indian supplier, it was also being utilized in the Indian KTMs too. Having said that, the owners of KTM ADV 390, Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 in India should be aware. If the bike shows some issues with the throttle response, immediately contact the service centres for checks.
While KTM has now announced a recall in the country, the owners are said to be alert.
