Sometimes automakers launch a special edition of the models in limited quantities, like only 1000 units with new colour scheme, badges and interiors. Such limited units are not only distinguishable from the regular models but also offer a better resale value in the market.

Apart from it, sometimes brands launch special edition models loaded with features that someone might find missing on the regular variants. In a while, some special editions cost lower than the regular models.

Hyundai Creta Special Edition

Having said that, such editions are a special breed. For example, the recently launched special Batman edition of Mahindra BE 6, was sold out in no time. Also Hyundai never holds back to refresh its most popular Creta with special editions, and Tata has also been an old player of this special edition game. This craze is not only seen amongst the mass market car players but also luxury brands like Mercedes do such stunts.

The special edition or limited edition models also work as collectibles for some. This is majorly because of its rarity, which makes it to be sought as an investment. And as said, being limited in numbers, they hold a special place in the used car market.
